FC Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets covered the most distance in La Liga

The Barça captain has the most in-game distance on his legs in the 2021-22 season with an average of 11.19 km per game

Midfielder Sergio Busquets, captain of FC Barcelona, has covered the most kilometres in-game in the last LaLiga Santander season, totalling 403.1 kilometres in the 36 matches he played. The results are from a study carried out by LaLiga and Microsoft as part of their Beyond Stats project, which places Uruguayan Alfonso 'Pacha' Espino, left-back of Cádiz, behind Busquets with 378.5 km, and Jon Moncayola, midfielder of Osasuna, in third place with 377.3 km.

The report "The roadrunners of LaLiga Santander" also highlights Iñaki Williams, from Athletic Club, and Álvaro García, from Rayo Vallecano, as the fastest players in the championship, with a top speed of 35.4 km/hour each, followed by, surprisingly, 35.3 km/hour of Colombian striker Luis Suárez, a former Barça player.

Álvaro García also leads another of the study's metrics, his 33.8 km being the most kilometres covered at more than 21 km/h, followed at 32.7 km by Real Madrid winger Vinícius Jr., from Brazil, and next is the Spanish-Albanian right-back Iván Balliu of Rayo, with 32.6 km.
