Barcelona 0-0 Girona: Draw moves Xavi's side 13 points clear in LaLiga

Barça could not find a way through on Monday but still remain in a great position

Barcelona missed the chance to open up a 15 point lead on Real Madrid as they were held to a goalless draw by Girona at Spotify Camp Nou on Monday. 

However, Xavi Hernandez's side are now 13 clear at the top of LaLiga with 10 games to go. 

Barca did not create a lot but Girona were still indebted to goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga on the night. 

The Argentine made first half saves from his own defender Santi Bueno, Raphinha and Ronald Araujo and a late, late stop from a Gavi header. 

Prior to that Gavi save, Taty Castellanos had missed Girona's best chance to stun Barca in the Catalan derby. 

Xavi wanted a reaction to the defeat to Real Madrid last week in the Copa del Rey semifinal and Barca did start quite well. 

Robert Lewandowski and Ansu Fati both had early chances but Barca were far from their best against a solid Girona side. 

The point is still one gained this week, though, after Madrid were beaten by Villarreal on Saturday at the Bernabeu. 

Girona, meanwhile, move eight points clear of the bottom three as their impressive return to LaLiga continues.
