Julian Draxler has renewed his contract at Paris Saint-Germain. On Monday, the French giants announced that the 27-year-old had signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2024. The German national team player was a candidate for a free transfer but instead has become the fifth player after Neymar, Ángel Di María, Juan Bernat, and Keylor Navas to sign a new long-term contract at the club.

Draxler joined PSG from Wolfsburg in 2017 for €36 million. Just 18 months earlier Wolfsburg paid €43 million to Schalke to sign Draxler—still the most expensive transfer within the Bundesliga.

The German national team player has struggled in France over the last year but has received a new lease on life at PSG since Mauricio Pochettino has taken over. Since the Argentine has taken over Draxler has played 25 games and was directly involved in eight goals. Bayern Munich & Co. were interested: Draxler signs new PSG contract
Previously linked with a transfer to the Premier League, Serie A, or a return to the Bundesliga, where Bayern Munich was interested, Pochettino is one of the main reasons for Draxler to sign a new contract. Bayern have even offered a higher salary than PSG. L'Équipe reported that Draxler has forfeited a part of his €7 million salary, which made him one of the 15 best-paid players in Ligue 1, to stay in Paris.
