War between Mbappe and France over image rights continues

The French striker will not be going to the photo session on Tuesday with his team-mates

Kylian Mbappe has again put pressure on the French Football Federation (FFF) by refusing to participate in a photo session for the national team to show his dissatisfaction with the use of his image by certain sponsors of Les Bleus. The PSG star already had his first clash with his federation on this issue last March, where he decided not to go to a different photo shoot due to a clash of interests between advertising brands and his sponsors.

The FFF, with Noël Le Graët at the helm, is reluctant to give in to the idea that its players keep their own image rights, instead of being forced to transfer them to their federation every time they go to the national team. This has led to the star's absence from tomorrow's photo shoot.

The player put out a statement lamenting that ‘sadly there has been no agreement on the issue’.

Mbappe does not want fast food or betting associated with him, and through his agent Delphine Verheyden, he’s been asking to change the way the image rights are arranged.

The document, drawn up in 2010, says each player receives 25,000 euros with each game with Les Bleus, and in exchange the FFF can sell their right to sponsors. The FFF have said that until the Qatar World Cup this scheme will not change.
