Saudi Arabia still trying to convince Mbappe

Al Hilal submitted a written offer to Nasser Al Khelaifi worth $330 million for Kylian Mbappe.

As MARCA noted on Monday, the club asked PSG for permission to negotiate with the player.

The French club said yes that same day, and since then, a move to Saudi Arabia appears to be the only option alongside Real Madrid.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, an Al Hilal delegation will be in Paris this week to try to convince the player to go to play in the Saudi League.

PSG is now in the background, and it's clear that if they've given permission to Al Hilal to negotiate with the player because they have no problem letting him go.

What's more, Paris would even be willing to lower the $300 million bid if it helped facilitate the move.

A one-year transitional contract

As MARCA has learned, Mbappe continues to insist he'll only join Real Madrid if he leaves PSG, which in turn continues to believe that, in fact, he already has an agreement with the Spanish side.

The one-year contract seems the only possible one because it would allow the player to leave on a free next year, as he intends to join Real Madrid.

It should also be noted that staying in Paris with the risk of being put to the side by Luis Enrique hasn't been ruled out.

That would come at a high cost for Kylian because the Euros are next June.

There is already a national debate between supporters and detractors of Mbappe, those who accuse PSG of harassing the player, with the French footballers' union at the forefront, and the mayor of Paris, Ana Hidalgo, long at war with the club over its refusal to sell the Parc des Princes.

Then there are those who think it makes no sense to take so many risks just to make him run out his PSG contract before joining Real Madrid in June 2024.

It is clear that the transfer offer of $330 million for one season is nonsense. But PSG could even lower the amount if they want Kylian to leave as soon as possible.

The risk being taken by Madrid

Real Madrid, meanwhile, insists it won't make a move, as they seem very sure they won't lose the player between now and the summer of 2024.

It is a long time, but they must be fairly confident the time has come for the Frenchman to move to Spain.
