It ended up being a result that many had seen coming, however that takes nothing away from how impressive a new-look Paris Saint-Germain were in Sunday's 4-1 victory at Lyon.
The hosts, ailing after a difficult transfer window, struggled to ever find their footing in the match as their abysmal run of form under Laurent Blanc continued.
Whilst having previously joked that he could be fired, the former French defender now has to have some real concerns about his future given the lack of fight his side showed on Sunday.
Kylian Mbappe bagged a brace as he continued his incredible form since returning to the good graces of the club's Qatari ownership, while Marco Asensio continued his unassumingly strong start to life with PSG by scoring again.
Lyon were all over the place
Lyon looked a very poor team throughout their 4-1 mauling in front of their own supporters. Of course, PSG have a much stronger squad, that's clear, but it seemed obvious from the beginning that Lyon's players didn't believe in the plan.
The fans weren't able to enjoy much more than two minutes of football before the pain came. Corentin Tolisso made a poor challenge inside the penalty area, leaving the official no choice but to point to the spot. Mbappe converted it with ease, and Paris Saint-Germain were off to the races.
Ousmane Dembele then forced a fine save out of Anthony Lopes, all before Achraf Hakimi made it 2-0 after 20 minutes. The Moroccan was gifted an easy rebound virtually on the goal line as Lyon were sloppy in trying to clear their lines.
Hakimi would hit the bar before Manuel Ugarte played a perfect pass to Asensio on the 40 minute mark, allowing the Spaniard to showcase his sensational composure by firing the ball into the roof of the net.
PSG continued to punish their rivals. In added time of the first half, Mbappe scored another, taking advantage of a non-existent defensive line to convert a one-on-one chance against Lopes.
No more PSG goals in the second half
Lyon were able to grow into the second half as PSG looked to conserve energy, and they got a consolation goal from the penalty spot through Tolisso.
Sunday was a brutally bad night for Lyon and it could well spell the end for Blanc.
PSG, on the other hand, are benefitting from the style of football that comes with Luis Enrique as coach, however their bigger tests will come in the Champions League.
