Liverpool have to STOP conceding first, insists NBC pundit Tim Howard after they came from behind to beat Newcastle... while Danny Higginbotham says young stars need to adapt to keep them in the title race

Former Manchester United and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has warned Liverpool about having to come from behind in games following their comeback against Newcastle Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp's side struggled again and secured three points courtesy of a 98th-minute winner by Fabio Carvalho.

'I think about the issues they've had going down a goal in these games, eight of the last nine games,' Howard told NBC.

'Jurgen Klopp has got to figure out a way to stop that from happening, because credit Liverpool they've only lost one of those games. But I'll tell you what, it's so difficult to come back from down a goal early in the game.'

Liverpool were very close to not pulling off the comeback after they fell behind early to Alexander Isak's debut goal in the 38th minute. The $71million striker saw a second ruled out for offside.

Roberto Firmino equalized for the hosts before Fabio Carvalho smashed the ball home from close range right at the death to spark wild celebrations.

Howard's fellow NBC pundit Danny Higginbotham believes Liverpool's young stars like Carvalho need to adjust to keep Liverpool in contention for the Premier League title.

'I think that it is, but it's all about these younger players adapting. And what you have is a lot of the time the younger players are going to adapt quicker with good senior player around them, and Liverpool have got plenty of good senior players,' Higginbotham said when asked if Liverpool's ceiling was still the title.

Though it is way too early for the title picture to form, the win did move Liverpool up to fifth in the league with eight points.

They will play Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday in what will certainly be an intense affair. More importantly it may prove to be a great test to see how some of Liverpool's players react to a more pressure packed environment.
