Former Australian Idol star Paulini Curuenavuli has turned to her fans for help after her beloved German Shepherd dog Rocky went missing in Sydney.

The former reality star, 41, shared a photo of her pet to Instagram on Tuesday and captioned it with some heartbreaking words.

'Asking for your assistance, our German Shepherd Rocky was either stolen or let loose on Thursday around 12pm at Woodward Park, Liverpool,' she began.

The singer asked her fans to reach out if they had any information about the dog's whereabouts.

'If you have seen him or know where he is, we would love to get him back. Any help is appreciated.'

Many of Paulini's fans quickly took to the comment section to offer her words of support.

'How devastating. I hope with all my heart that he returns to you safely,' one person wrote and a second added: 'I hope you find your fur baby. Can't imagine how you're feeling'.

Paulini rose to fame in 2003 as a contestant on the first season of Australian Idol, and was left stunned after judge Ian 'Dicko' Dickson humiliated her on national TV.

She was just 21 at the time, and had chosen to perform her song in a show-stopping gold dress.

In the shocking episode, Dicko told Paulini to 'choose more appropriate clothing and shed some pounds', prompting a wave of outrage.

'When Dicko made that comment it was kind of like a wake-up call. What he said to me was hurtful, it made me think, the music industry is about every aspect of your life,' she told Daily Mail Australia last year.
