Arsenal have asked about Barcelona prospect Mikayil Faye.

The athletic left-back, who can also play at centre-back, has been starring for Barcelona B this season and was primed to make the step up to the senior side under coach Xavi who rates the teenager highly.

Barca need to sell this summer and while they believe the 19-year old has a big future at the club, they recognise his sale could raise £17million or more for their coffers as interest gathers.

Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Liverpool have all been following Faye's progress with Bayern, particularly, collating a lot of information.

Mail Sport has already revealed that several sides including Manchester United have been checking in on the powerful centre-back who can also play left-back. 

Arsenal have asked about 19-year-old Barcelona defender Mikayil Faye, who several clubs have been looking at 

United scouts saw the 19-year old score a spectacular goal on his international debut for Senegal against Gabon in March and he followed up with a thunderous free-kick for Barcelona Atletic against Osasuna a week later. 

'He has already played in some friendly matches,' Xavi told Spanish media. 'He is a capable footballer, he is aggressive, he is fast, he can get the ball out well. He could help us at some point. He has the level, without a doubt.' 

Faye is away with the Senegal national team at the moment as they prepare for World Cup qualifiers and Arsenal will watch him closely. 

They also like Feyenoord's Quilindschy Hartman but the Holland international is out injured until next year.
