The mother of a baby who went viral on social media for 'babbling in a Scouse accent' has said she 'never noticed' her Liverpudlian twang.

Baby Orla became a TikTok sensation after she was recorded 'answering back' to her mum's friend when she was told it was bedtime, despite not being able to talk.

The video has since racked up more than 18 million views and thousands more comments after viewers were left howling with laughter.

Now Orla's mother Rhiannon Gerrish has revealed she 'never picked up on' her baby's accent, telling the BBC it's 'because we are all Scouse'.

Rhiannon says she has been 'blown away' by the reaction to the viral video and says Orla is always a 'little character'.

She added that it was 'lovely' to hear that the clip had 'made people's day'.

The proud mother has even set up her own TikTok page to document Orla's cute chatting in the wake of her success, called @orlasworld.

The TikTok clip sees Rhiannon's friend Olayka ask Orla: 'Do you want to go to sleep?'

The baby appears to have understood the question and seemingly answers directly with a shake of the head and what sounds like 'No' in a throaty Liverpudlian accent.

Olayka then asks: 'Why don't you ever want to go to sleep?'

When the baby again shakes her head and babbles, Olayka imagines the baby says it's because she has energy.

The battle over bedtime continues with Olayka telling Orla that she's prepared everything for her, including her bottle and teddy.

She adds: 'And then you started kicking off'.

At that point, the baby reacts with more babble in what sounds like a distinctly Liverpudlian accent.

The entertaining - and incredibly cute - clip becomes even funnier when the aunt appears to be trying to negotiate with the stubborn baby.

She says: 'We've had a nice day together and now you're kicking off now.'

As the baby hilariously shakes her head and continues to 'answer back', Olayka mimics Orla's movements before saying: 'But you need to go to bed because you're only a baby.'

She then takes a different tack and playfully tries to assert her authority by saying 'you need to listen to what I'm saying' - but the baby's having none of it, which sends her into a fit of laughter.

'What's crazy is that it's a scouse accent in gibberish';

'A baby scouse accent is killing me';

'This is the first time I've heard a baby with a Scouse accent. Cutest ever'.

One commenter was able to give more insight into the clip, writing: 'For anyone wondering about why she’s got a Scouse accent, babies mimic intonation and sounds before they learn words'.
