Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho's brother trolled Jamie Carragher and Liverpool after their 3-0 loss to Atalanta.

Jurgen Klopp's men suffered a shock defeat against the Italian side at Anfield in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.

A brace from Gianluca Scamacca and a late goal from Mario Pasalic now means that Liverpool have it all to do in the return fixture in Italy

Garnacho's brother, Roberto, took full advantage of the Reds misery with a tweet targeting both the club and Carragher.

He wrote to the former defender on X: 'Your team is absolutely dog***t'.

Carragher was himself not impressed with Liverpool's performance on the night, though he did not reply to Roberto's post.

'Awful result & performance from Liverpool, the only consolation about getting beat so heavily is Jurgen should play a full second string in the second leg & go all in for the league!' he wrote on X.

Scamacca made the breakthrough after 38 minutes after goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, a stand-in for the injured Alisson, allowed his strike to wriggle through.

The hosts then conspired to miss several golden chances, Darwin Nunez twice miscuing and Harvey Elliott hitting the woodwork, and were later made to pay.

Taking advantage of slack marking, Scamacca doubled Atalanta's lead with a fine finish before Pasalic snaffled up a rebound to score seven minutes from time.

The latest defeat comes after Liverpool's title hopes took a hit following their 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

Klopp's men hope to return to winning ways when they take on Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday.
