A former Liverpool man has reportedly been voted the most disappointing player of the season by Bundesliga stars.

227 players from the Bundesliga are thought to have taken part in a survey, giving their opinions on a range of topics, from who will win the Euros to the worst manager of the season.

One of the categories was the worst player in the Bundesliga, as reported by Kicker, with a midfielder, who recently joined from a Premier League side, topping the vote with 25.6 per cent of his fellow pros singling him out.

The star, who once cost the Reds nearly £50million, left the English club in the summer on a free transfer and made the jump to Germany.

All did not go to plan, however, as he made just five appearances for the club following a clash with the team and faced accusations that he refused to play in a game.

The player was Naby Keita, who has played 106 minutes for Werder Bremen and was suspended by the club in April

It was former Liverpool man Naby Keita who topped the vote, with the 29-year-old refusing to play for new side Werder Bremen earlier in the campaign.

Ex-Liverpool star Naby Keita is told his behaviour 'cannot be tolerated' and is SUSPENDED by Werder Bremen - as 'complete flop' is likely to be ditched after playing just 106 minutes in the Bundesliga this season

Keita joined the German outfit with high hopes of a career resurgence, but hasn't played since refusing to take part in his side's game against Bundesliga winners Bayer Leverkusen in April.

He has endured a frustrating maiden campaign in German after his Anfield exit last summer. He has featured only five times in the league, totalling 106 minutes, having been plagued by injury.

The 29-year-old returned from his latest ailment in March and made two substitute appearances before his hiatus.

Keita, according to Bremen director Clemens Fritz, refused to join his team-mates and was set to face 'consequences' for his actions. He was subsequently suspended for the remainder of the season, bringing a dull end to the first season of his three-year contract.

He denied the claims in response, insisting he 'will not accept any person trying to tarnish my image'.

'Naby Keita found out that he would not be playing vs Leverkusen from the start, he decided not to get on the bus and to go home,' Fritz said ahead of the game.

'We'll talk to Keita and his agent about the consequences and how to proceed.'

Leverkusen's boss Xabi Alonso, meanwhile, was voted the best manager by 60.4 per cent of voters in the survey

Elsewhere in the vote, 39.2 per cent of participants voted that Germany will win Euro 2024, with 22 per cent going with France and 15.4 per cent England.

51.1 per cent of voters picked out Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz as the star man from the league, with his manager, Xabi Alonso, chosen by 60.4 per cent as the best manager.

Nenad Bjelica, who was sacked by Union Berlin during the campaign, was picked out by 18.1 per cent as the worst manager.
