Trent Alexander-Arnold's old school teacher predicts England to LOSE their Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands - with Liverpool star set to start on the bench again

A former school teacher of Trent Alexander-Arnold has predicted England to lose thir Euro 2024 semi-final.

The Three Lions will take on the Netherlands this evening for a spot in the final of the competition in Germany, which would signpost their second final in a row in the competition.

They secured their spot in the last four via a penalty shootout win over Switzerland on Saturday, with Alexander-Arnold stepping up last to net the winning penalty.

A former PE teacher of the Liverpool man, Derek Williams, appeared on ITV daytime show This Morning on Wednesday to disuss his former student's success and his journey to the top level of football.

But he left presenters stunned when he gave his verdict on Wednesday night's game, as he failed to back his ex-student to reach the final of the competition on Sunday.

'I think they'll get beat 2-1,' Williams, from Liverpool, said. 'Gakpo and Van Dijk are going to score.

'Trent is going to score a goal for the Liverpool connection.'

The response left presenters Ben Shepherd and Cat Deeley puzzled, with Shepherd asking: 'So you're saying England are going to lose?'

Williams responded: 'I think they might, yeah. I think that the Liverpool lads might score a goal tonight.

Shepherd was left shocked as he looked around the studio, with Deeley breaking out into laughter.

Williams was speaking from St Mary's college in Crosby, attended by Alexander-Arnold before he broke out onto the scene with Liverpool.

When asked to explain the feeling of watching Alexander-Arnold score the penalty, he said: 'A bit surreal really. Seeing a young boy go from the playground here to the heights he has hit is remarkable.

'I thought he'd slot it to be honest, I wasn't nervous. I don't think it was that great, if the goalie had stood up he may have got it.'
