Tottenham have confirmed the £65million signing of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth after triggering the striker's release clause.

The 26-year-old has signed a contract until 2030 with Ange Postecoglou's side.

He scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, his best return in the top-flight, and helped push Bournemouth to an impressive 12th-placed finish.

Spurs had been keen to strengthen in the No 9 position this summer and Solanke, who played for Liverpool between 2017 and 2019, emerged as a prime target.

On Instagram James Maddison has already welcomed his new team-mate by posting a throwback photo of their England youth shirts hung up together.

His tally of 21 goals in all competitions last year saw him above Spurs forwards Son Heung-min, who scored 17, and Richarlison, who found the net 11 times.

Bournemouth will sell their talisman reluctantly but Solanke, who narrowly missed out on England's Euro 2024 squad, is set to take the next step in his career.

Solanke began his career at Chelsea, who have also been credited with an interest this summer, before moving to Anfield in 2017 on a free transfer.

Spurs had already signed two players in this window with young midfielders Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall joining from Leeds and Djurgarden respectively.

Solanke hands Postecoglou his first natural No 9 since Harry Kane departed for Bayern Munich in a sensational £100m move last summer.

However, the shirt is currently held by Richarlison, who in recent days has confirmed his intention to stay put.

There has been an offer but my dream of playing for the Brazilian and in thePremier League speaks louder,' he told ESPN Brasil.

'The money is big but my dreams are bigger.'

Solanke had been an outside shout for England's Euro 2024 squad over the summer but lost out to Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney behind Kane.
