Premier League protagonists Manchester City and Arsenal are set to square off in the pick of the FA Cup fourth-round fixtures.

Arsenal sit five points above City with a game in hand in the Premier League, but they travel to Manchester on Friday night having lost six games on the bounce at the Etihad Stadium.

The two sides are yet to meet this season, with their initial October date pushed back due to Arsenal's Europa League commitments. Friday's encounter is now the first of three intriguing clashes to come.

Mikel Arteta and his former mentor Pep Guardiola are both expected to make changes to their teams on Friday night, though to what extent remains to be seen.

Arsenal are in the driving seat to win their first Premier League title since the 2003-04 season, but with Gabriel Jesus, Cedric Soares, Reiss Nelson and Mohamed Elneny all unavailble, Arteta doesn't have quite as many options to rotate as his counterpart.

Emile Smith Rowe is also reportedly out of the tie having picked up a thigh injury in training.

Arteta is however expected to hand Leandro Trossard his first start for Arsenal, having made his debut off the bench in the 3-2 home win over Manchester United last weekend.

'Straight away he had a beautiful impact on the team to help us to win,' Arteta said of Trossard in his pre-match press conference on Wednesday.

'That's what I like. I see a player that is willing to make things happen and he is especially composed in the final third and is something we needed to add to the team.'

Arteta could also thrust new signing Jakub Kiwior straight into the action in place of Gabriel Magalhaes following his £21million arrival from Serie A side Spezia. Takehiro Tomiyasu, Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney could also start in defence in place of Ben White, William Saliba and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

There could also be a change between the sticks, with Matt Turner starting in place of Aaron Ramsdale. Fabio Vieira could meanwhile replace Martin Odegaard in midfield.

As for Manchester City, their only injury concern is Phil Foden, who is sitll recovering from a foot injury sustained at Old Trafford earlier in the month. Guardiola has revealed the midfielder is improving, though.

The Spaniard otherwise has a full squad to choose from and indicated he will play a strong team as he previewed the clash.

'We have to prove ourselves, how far away or how close we are and the best way to notice is to perform at our best level,' he said. 'Otherwise, against a team in that moment, it will be difficult.'

Guardiola is expected to name Stefan Ortega in goal, as he did in the third-round win over Chelsea, while Bernardo Silva could return to the side.

Ruben Dias is in contention to make his first start since November, though John Stones and Aymeric Laporte could be preferred.

Erling Haaland was left out of the strating lineup against Chelsea but could be called upon for a match of such significance.

Predicted Man City XI: Ortega; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Ake; Rodri, Silva; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Grealish; Haaland.

Predicted Arsenal:  Turner; Tomiyasu, Holding, Kiwior, Tierney; Vieira, Partey, Xhaka; Saka, Nketiah, Trossard.
