Striker Callum Wilson, Newcastle's two-goal hero off the bench on Sunday, helped out at a food bank last week.
Wilson also spoke movingly about using similar facilities as a child.
The England forward was at a centre in Gateshead and assisted volunteers packing boxes for some 10,000 needy people in the area.
Wilson got a puncture on his way to the facility but rather than let anyone down, he got on the phone to the Toon's Jamaal Lascelles.
The defender happily came to the rescue, picking up his team-mate and ferrying him to the food bank.

United's secret weapon in Bellingham hunt
Manchester United may have a secret weapon in the race for Jude Bellingham.
Matt Hargreaves was announced last month as the spearhead for the club's football negotiations.
Hargreaves is joining from adidas, where he looked after a number of major clients for the German sportswear giant — including the England midfielder.

Gunners in the running for top flight's greenest club
They may not win the Premier League title but Arsenal could be in the running for the top flight's greenest club.
The climate-conscious Gunners have installed charge points for electric cars at their training ground for players and coaching staff.
Giggs and Butt rekindle old partnership
Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt have teamed up. The former players have swapped Old Trafford for the Padel courts of Wilmslow, Cheshire.
While Erik ten Hag's United were defeating Brighton in the FA Cup semi-finals last week, the club's old boys were in action, progressing past the round-robin stage with a 4-3 victory — although they did lose one game 6-1.

Tottenham 'cursed' by executive
Not a great few minutes for Tottenham during Thursday night's draw with Manchester United.
After Marcus Rashford had put the visitors 2-0 up, a camera zoomed in on under-fire chairman Daniel Levy. Right behind him, executive Donna-Maria Cullen was captured saying something many believed to be: 'This is ****.'
Cullen denies that but there was incredulity at half-time moments later when the DJ at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium saw fit to play a track by The Stone Roses, the iconic Manchester band whose members, bar drummer Reni, are United fans.
'Tone deaf,' said one insider.

West Ham Under-18s have shot at treble
West Ham's trophy-hungry Under 18s are chasing a Treble after thrashing Arsenal 5-1 at the Emirates in the FA Youth Cup final — and they will get the chance to deliver another hammer blow on enemy turf.
Kevin Keen's tyros, who won the southern league, must face northern champions Manchester City, with the Etihad pencilled in for the National final a week on Wednesday.
Agents' laptops run out of juice
Agents were given their exam results last week after the first tests from FIFA — and it was noted that some dimwits failed because they turned up without laptops.
Sports Agenda understands a number of others arrived at London's ExCeL with laptops that had not been fully charged.
Given the entrance hall did not have charge points, some devices ran out of battery, so the owners have had to sort out dates to sit the test again.

Rafiq's new radio gig
Azeem Rafiq returned to the airwaves when he popped up on commentary at the Middlesex v Kent County Championship match at Lord's on Friday.
The former Yorkshire all-rounder whose racism claims rocked the sport, told the Cricketer magazine last year that he was moving abroad to protect his family from abuse and intimidation.
Rafiq, 31, said he felt vindicated after a Cricket Discipline Commission panel found charges proved against five former players, though ex-England captain Michael Vaughan was cleared.
Sky Sports customers will be able to watch title race in its entirety
Sky Sports punters angry at missing out on the Manchester City v Arsenal match — which was shown on BT Sport — can watch all of both sides' remaining matches.
This is set to be the most-watched season on the network, up five per cent on last year.
January saw the most-watched North London derby (3.2million) while Arsenal v Manchester United in January was the third most-watched pay TV Premier League match ever in the UK, picking up a 29 per cent audience share and a 54 per cent share of the under 35s audience.
Sky Sports customers were unable to watch a single minute of Manchester City's two league clashes with Arsenal this season on the platform
Chelsea Twitter storm
Last week Agenda reported how Twitter had angered the EFL and many of its clubs by going back on a promise not to remove their verification marks.
Eagle-eyed readers got in touch to point out Chelsea had retained their tick for the men's team but not their champion Women's Super League side.
This was relayed to Chelsea and, lo and behold, 24 hours later it miraculously reappeared.
FA director of comms volunteering at London Zoo
Former FA director of communications Louisa Fyans is now busy as a consultant.
However, the exec can also be found volunteering at London Zoo. Fyans is working with sloths and squirrel monkeys at the Regent's Park landmark, which some might argue is nothing new after handling England's press pack for years.

Premier League AGM moved to Hampshire
The Premier League have switched their AGM from the plush Rudding Park hotel in Harrogate, North Yorkshire — England manager Gareth Southgate's back yard — to a venue in Hampshire.
Taxis for Altrincham
It was a good job that no relegation or promotion issues depended on Altrincham's final-day visit to Aldershot in the National League, given the visitors' coach broke down at Oxford services.
A fleet of taxis took the players and coaching staff the rest of the way, with the match kicking off at 6.15pm instead of the league-wide 5.30pm.
Six cars were ordered, with the last of them carrying manager Phil Parkinson and his substitutes to what was an uneventful 1-1 draw.
