Kyle Walker and Felipe Melo have to be separated following heated exchange after Manchester City win Club World Cup final against Fluminense

Kyle Walker had to be pulled away from Felipe Melo at full time after Manchester City won the Club World Cup.

The full-back clashed with the Brazilian after the game, which saw the new world champions dominate form start to finish in a 4-0 victory.

City took the lead in the game after a matter of seconds, with Julian Alvarez scoring a 'Messi-like' goal with his chest after Nathan Ake had hit the post.

Nino then scored an own goal to make it 2-0, before Phil Foden and Alvarez again added to the total as City were crowned champions of the world.

But there was initially little time for celebration in Jeddah, with Walker and Melo coming to blows and having to be dragged apart by a number of other players.

Footage from the game appeared to show Melo, 40, running to approach Walker, who was walking ahead of a number of his City team-mates following the full time whistle.

The reason for the confrontation remains unclear, but a number of players quickly bundled into the confrontation to drag the pair apart.

Tensions eventually cooled, with Jack Grealish the man to pull Walker away from the situation.

Walker did go onto lift the trophy as stand-in Manchester City captain with Kevin de Bruyne still out injured.

While emotions seems to be what fuels Fluminense, it's clear that Melo crossed a line at full time following his side's heavy defeat and hopes of an upset in the final.

While previous Club World Cup finals have at time been tense and no easy task for the European side, City made light work of their opponents and became the latest English side to lift the trophy after the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.
