Ballon d'Or's red carpet! Lionel Messi keeps it traditional, David Beckham is as stylish as ever and Kylian Mbappe fashions a bizarre grey suit as superstars show off in Paris

Footballing royalty brought their best suits, ties, dresses and designer brands to the Parisian red carpet on Monday evening at the Ballon d'Or awards ceremony.

The annual awards recognises the best footballing talents in the world, with Lionel Messi widely expected to pick up his eighth individual title as the best' men's performer.

Premier League stars, A-list celebrities, You Tube sensations and former players and managers are in attendance at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris and there are plenty of eager supporters waiting to catch a glimpse.

Messi who once fashioned a bizarre dazzling tuxedo decided to keep his look more low-key on an evening where he is expected to pick up another individual award and most likely final Ballon d'Or of his career.

The Argentinian showcased a suave black tuxedo while he was joined by his family as they returned to Paris where he formerly played for PSG.

Liverpool legend Djibril Cisse was at his eye-catching best as he turned up in a white suit and had dyed his hair blue

Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham turned up with his club team-mate Vinicius Jnr

He was followed by his Inter Miami owner, David Beckham, with the England legend looking as cool as ever in a cross-jacked navy suit.

Beckham kept his hair short for the event and looked to be in good spirits as he posed for the cameras lined up on the red carpet.

However, Kylian Mbappe decided to ditch conventional styles by turning up wearing a strange-looking grey tuxedo with a black undershirt. 

Manchester City players were some of the first to arrive at the glamorous event and were undoubtedly walking with an extra spring in their step after thrashing cross-city rivals Man United in the weekend derby at Old Trafford.

Erling Haaland - who is expected to finish high in the Ballon d'Or rankings after a record-breaking first season at Man City donned a navy tuxedo as he made his way into the theatre alongside girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

There was a surprise appearance from former Chelsea star and Real Madrid flop Eden Hazard who has rarely been seen since he decided to retire from football earlier in October.

The Belgian opted for a simple black suit and tie while being joined on the red carpet by his family in front of the paparazzi at the awards ceremony. 

It was a throwback event for former Liverpool star Djibril Cisse as he turned up with another iconic look that will have Reds supporters reminiscing about his eye-catching style during his days at Anfield.

Man City midfielder Rodri wore a traditional tuxedo for the invite-only ceremony in Paris

Cisse was perhaps more famous for his outrageous haircuts and fashion choices during his time at Liverpool than he was goals and wore a white suit with no shirt and dyed his hair blue on Monday.

Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham similarly caught attention as he ditched the traditional tuxedo and instead fashioned a six-button jacket with bow tie.

His club-team mate Vinicius Jnr went one step further with his style as the Brazilian turned up in a striking red jacket that matches the carpet celebrities were walking down. 

Aston Villa and Argentina World Cup winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was present in a stylish suede-jacket tuxedo as he posed with his wife outside the theatre.

Bernardo Silva was another Premier League star who made the short trip to France and looked classy as he made his way into the event hall. His club team-mate Rodri followed wearing a similar style.

The pair might be wanting to reunite with former Man City colleague Ilkay Gundogan who left the club in the summer to join Barcelona but attended the Ballon d'Or event.

There was also an appearance for tennis superstar Novak Djokovic who is an avid football supporter and decided to make an appearance at the invite-only ceremony in the French capital.

Non-sport stars were also in attendance as social media influencers IShowSpeed and Luva de Pedreiro appeared on the red carpet in rather unusual styles.

IShowSpeed decided on a pair of designer trainers that wouldn't look out of place on the beach given the holes on them, while Pedreiro was dressed in a red suit and black shoes.
