Harry Maguire has revealed he would pick himself in his dream five-a-side team, and would find a space for former Manchester United team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo as well.

Maguire has had a difficult first half of the season at Old Trafford, starting just three league matches after being dropped by Erik Ten Hag.

He has found form during the group stages of the World Cup, though, and has backed himself to succeed in five-a-side alongside his England centre-back partner John Stones, with another Three Lions star Declan Rice just in front of the pair.

When asked about his ultimate five-a-side team, Maguire told : 'Stonesy [John Stones] at the back.

'I'd put myself in there. And then I'd go with a midfielder, I'd go with Declan Rice. He protects everything, doesn't he?'

The United defender then moved onto his attack, and decided to include Ronaldo. 

Maguire and Ronaldo played together for 15 months at Old Trafford before the latter gave a bombshell interview to Piers Morgan where he criticised the club, which led to his United contract being ripped up last month.

Maguire has shown that there is no lingering ill-feeling over Ronaldo's exit, though, and believes the Portuguese star would strike up a formidable partnership with England captain Harry Kane.

'I'd put Cristiano [Ronaldo] in there. Those two together, you’ve won the game already,' he added.

'We'll just let Ronny [Ronaldo] and H [Kane] go and score the goals, and we'll do the defending.'

Maguire is expected to line-up with Stones, Rice and Kane when England take on Senegal for a place in the quarter-finals of the World Cup on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is set to captain Portugal in their own last-16 clash with Switzerland on Tuesday as he aims to win the World Cup at the fifth time of asking.
