Amad Diallo has urged Sunderland fans to show respect and alter chants that contain references to the size of his manhood.

The Manchester United loanee has impressed since making the move to the North East on loan over the summer, scoring four times in 14 games for Tony Mowbray's side.

Diallo's status as a fan favourite at the Black Cats has led to fans creating a chant in tribute to the winger that contains a racial stereotype in reference to his manhood.

Ahead of Sunderland's return to Championship action on Saturday,

through the club's Twitter account thanking fans for their support and asking them to 'keep the noise' but 'change the song'.

'Sunderland fans, I've had an amazing time so far and I love your energy. Hearing you sing my name is incredible, but we need to be respectful.

'Let's change the song, keep the noise and move forward together. Ha'way the lads.'

The youngster continued his impressive recent form by getting on the scoresheet as Sunderland defeated Millwall 3-0 at the Stadium of Light. 

However, despite the youngster's plea, talkSPORT reported that supporters in attendance could be heard singing the chant without omitting the x-rated line in question.

During his time at Old Trafford, Romelu Lukaku issued a similar request to United fans over a song making reference to the size of his manhood.

‘Great backing since I joined United,’ the striker said at the time. ‘Fans have meant well with their songs but let’s move on together. #respecteachother.’
