Erik ten Hag says Jadon Sancho's resurgence at Borussia Dortmund is good news for Manchester United, if only because it means the player's value could go up this summer.

Sancho's revival on loan at his old club in Germany continued on Wednesday night when he produced a man-of-the-match performance in Dortmund's 1-0 Champions League semi-final win over Paris Saint-Germain.

The 25-year-old's future at United is in some doubt after his fall-out with Ten Hag earlier in the season when he effectively accused the manager of lying over the reasons for his absence and subsequently spent four months training on his own at Carrington.

Even if Sancho doesn't return to Old Trafford next season, his form for Dortmund increases United's chances of recouping more of the £73million they paid Dortmund for him in the summer of 2021.

Ten Hag has previously insisted that Sancho must apologise for his post on social media before he considers having him back.

Asked about the winger's display against PSG, the United boss said that it shows 'he represents a high value' for the club this summer'.

'So let's say this: yesterday he played very good and he's a very good player,' said Ten Hag. 'Yesterday he showed why Manchester United bought him and he showed he represents a high value for Manchester United, which is good.

'I'm happy for Jadon, for the performance yesterday, and we'll see what is going to happen in the future.'

Sancho wasn't included in United's squad to face Arsenal back on September 3, with Ten Hag explaining afterwards he wasn't selected because of 'his performances in training.'

The Dutchman added that players 'have to reach a level every day at Manchester United.'

Responding on social media, Sancho wrote: 'I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself very well in training this week… I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!'

United removed Sancho from the first-team group on September 14 and it later emerged the 24-year-old, who cost United £73million in 2021, was training with the academy sides.

Sancho was loaned to Dortmund in January and has returned to playing regular football, scoring three goals and contributing two assists in 17 outings in the Bundesliga and Champions League.

United, whose hopes of making next season's Champions League are over, head to Crystal Palace on Monday night.
