Erik ten Hag is reportedly no longer on Bayern Munich's shortlist to become their next manager.

Bayern's director of sport, Max Eberl, held talks with Ten Hag but he is no longer in the running to replace Thomas Tuchel, according to German newspaper

Tuchel is set to leave the Allianz Arena at the end of the season as announced in February and is, incidentally, reportedly on United's list of contenders to succeed Ten Hag

Bayern have already been spurned by their first three preferences for the role - Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Rangnick. All three occupy managerial jobs: Bayer Leverkusen, Germany, and Austria respectively.

Hansi Flick, who previously managed Bayern to a Treble, is now understood to be the favourite to take the role.

Flick managed Bayern between 2019 and 2021, turning them into the best team in the world. He won seven trophies in that time, six of which were in 2020, including the Champions League and Club World Cup.

His win rate was 81.4%.

Roberto De Zerbi has ruled himself out by insisting he wants to stay at Brighton while Zinedine Zidane denied suggestions that he coule become the next Die Roten boss.

Bayern have this season lost their 11-year streak of winning the Bundesliga but could still lift the Champions League.

Any allure Ten Hag had will have taken some knock following Manchester United's 4-0 crushing at the hands of Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Michael Olise netted twice and Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell took advantage of a discombobulated United performance, with defensive competence was in short supply.

United sit eighth in the Premier League table with three games left and if they faily to climb, it will be their lowest finish since the 1989-90 season.

They could still finish as high as fifth and will contest the FA Cup final against Manchester City on May 25.

There are mitigating factors involved in United's failure to kick on from last season's third-placed finish and Carabao Cup triumph.

This season United have endured more than 60 separate injuries to players, with 24 first-teamers affected at some stage.

Casemiro and Jonny Evans started against Palace and comprised United's 14th centre-back pairing of the season.

It is hard to establish rhythm, confidence, and understanding with so many changes in the bedrock of the team.

Mail Sport reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his INEOS team plan to overhaul Carrington this summer to improve the club's diabolical injury record.

At the centre of the multi-million pound redevelopment will be a new ‘pre-activation and player performance’ zone.

Pre-activation usually involves a series of exercises, often with the use of resistance bands and foam rollers. The aim is to increase blood flow to muscles through activities such as skipping and jogging.

Players will also take part in dynamic mobility exercises, such as lunges, which open up areas such as the knees and hips to aid rotation and carry out a series of stretching routines. A specialised space may well play a key role on a daily basis.
