Isak the goal machine

Alexander Isak is an exceptional striker.

He has been incredible for Newcastle this season and his brace today has taken him to 19 Premier League goals this campaign.

He is now just one off Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer in the race for the Golden Boot.

At the rate he is now scoring, I would put him up there as one of the favourites for securing top spot in the league scoring charts.

What do you think?

Antony FINALLY gets his PL goal

My word has he had to wait a while, but Antony finally gets his first Premier League goal of the campaign.

I can't believe I'm sitting here writing a post about a Manchester United winger scoring a singular goal, but that just shows what kind of season the teams and Antony are having.

To be fair to him, it was a lovely finish, he did well to stay on his feet. He celebrated it exactly how you'd expect him to.

In the end, though, Andre Onana's stupidity in goal meant it was only worth the one point.

Onana howler

Oh, Andre Onana. You simply haven't learned, have you.

Back in August of last year, Onana somehow got away with a punch to the face of Sasa Kalajdzic. This time though, he didn't.

It's almost a carbon copy of the incident, it's really poor goalkeeping and something he has to learn to stop.

It gets worse the more you watch it.

Blades top-flight journey comes to an end

The reaction amongst the Sheffield United players after the whistle blew just showed they were prepared for this moment.

It's been a horrible season for the Blades, they have taken many a battering and today was just another to add to the list.

The players and staff congregated into a huddle at full-time as Chris Wilder spoke to the players.

A cruel match to end their journey. They still have three games left to play though.

SHEFFIELD UNITED ARE RELEGATED! Newcastle 5-1 Sheffield United

It's all over for Sheffield United, they have been relegated to the Championship.

The writing has been on the wall for a while now and today proved the final straw for the Blades.

It all started so well for them at St James' Park, but four second-half goals from Newcastle put them out of their misery.

A sad day for Blades' fans.

FULL-TIME: Fulham 1-1 Palace

It ends all square in west London.

It took a while to burst into life, but Rodrigo Muniz looked like he had done enough to earn Fulham all three points with his header.

However, Jeffrey Schlupp's wondergoal earns Crystal Palace a point to take back to Selhurst Park.

FULL-TIME: Man United 1-1 Burnley

Burnley earn a huge point at Old Trafford!

Boos ring around the stadium, some of the Manchester United drop to their knees. They can't believe they have thrown that away.

It's the story of United's season, they just gifted Burnley too many opportunities.

I still can't believe what I witnessed when Andre Onane took out Zeki Amdouni for the penalty, it's not the first time he has done it either.

United fans will be begging for this season to end as soon as possible.

FULL-TIME: Wolves 2-1 Luton Town

Luton can't find the equaliser and time has run out.

They huffed and they puffed, but ultimately Luton fall short at Molineux, that feels like a massive moment in the relegation battle.

In all honesty, Luton didn't deserve a point, Wolves were much the better side for the majority of the afternoon.

It's starting to feel like the Hatters have too much to do to stay up.

NO PENALTY: Newcastle 5-1 Sheffield United

Actually, no they won't..

The referee is sent to the screen and overturns the decision, he believes the foul started outside the area.

Not a good day for Sheffield United, or the season, in fact.

PENALTY TO SHEFFIELD UNITED!

Sheffield United may have a chance for one final cheer at Newcastle.

Alex Murphy takes out Bogle and the referee points to the spot.

Oh wait, VAR is checking...

GOAL!!! Fulham 1-1 Palace (Schlupp 87')

What a goal!!

Best goal of the day, no doubt. Jeffrey Schlupp hits a gorgeous volley in off the post, that is stupendous.

Crystal Palace are deservedly level.

GOAL!!! Man United 1-1 Burnley (Amdouni 87')

Burnley are level at Old Trafford!

Zeki Amdouni slots it past Andre Onana to silence the Manchester United faithful.

I still can't believe what Onana was thinking.

PENALTY TO BURNLEY!

Andre Onana what are you doing?

Zeki Amdouni is wiped out by Onana, he literally punches him in the face. I can't believe it, what was he thinking?

Well, Amdouni is the man who will step up.

Wolves 2-1 Luton Town

Luton suddenly look like a different side.

They have flipped the script and are putting all the pressure on Wolves now.

Do they have enough time to find an equaliser?

GOAL!!! Wolves 2-1 Luton Town (Morris 80')

What did I say about Luton?

The Hatters have some hope as Carlton Morris volleys one back from close range.

They have had their backs against the wall, but now there is a chance.

GOAL!!! Man United 1-0 Burnley (Antony 79')

Antony has his first Premier League goal of the season!

In truth, it was a gift from Burnley, but he won't care. Antony is sent in behind by a Burnley defender and as he stumbles down he slides the ball back across Arijanet Muric.

He has waited all season for that moment, it must feel like a huge relief.

Burnley have just over 10 minutes to try and salvage something from the match.

Wolves 2-0 Luton Town

Luton are really struggling at Wolves.

The home side are smothering the Hatters, they can't get out of their own half.

It feels like only a matter of minutes until a third goal comes.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 5-1 Sheffield United (Wilson 72')

It just gets worse for Sheffield United...

The Blades are crumbling, they lost 8-0 in the reverse fixture and they are on their way to conceding that number again.

This time it's Newcastle substitute Callum Wilson who fires into the top corner with an expert finish. A big goal for him after his recent injury struggles.

Sheffield United have now conceded 97 league goals this season.

BIG SAVE! Fulham 1-0 Palace

Bernd Leno, take a bow!

Crystal Palace should be level, but they aren't because Leno produces a brilliant save from point-blank range to deny substitute Odsonne Edouard.

Today has been a day for the keepers.

BIG SAVE! Man United 0-0 Burnley

That was some hit by Alejandro Garnacho!

Arijanet Muric is once again called into action, he is having a very good game, as he turns over Garnacho's vicious effort.

That's much better from Manchester United.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 4-1 Sheffield United (Osborn OG 65')

Sheffield United are falling apart at St James' Park.

Ben Osborn is the unfortunate man with the fourth, putting the ball in his own net following a Newcastle corner.

If it wasn't already over, it certainly is now for the Blades. A dark day for the club.

Man United 0-0 Burnley

Joe Bernstein, Mail Sport, at Old Trafford:

Loud boos at Old Trafford from fans who disagree with Erik ten Hag taking off Kobbie Mainoo midway through the second half. He and Rasmus Hojlund are replaced by Amad Diallo and Scott McTominay.

Man United 0-0 Burnley

As you can probably tell from the lack of updates, not much is happening at Old Trafford.

Both sides can't quite get the final pass right, there are lots of interceptions happening.

Manchester United are once again not at the races.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 3-1 Sheffield United (Isak 61')

Oh, how good is that!

Alexander Isak does Wes Foderingham with the eyes to swipe home the spot-kick. Foderingham didn't even dive.

That should be that now. Not just in this game, but for Sheffield United's time in the Premier League.

PENALTY TO NEWCASTLE!

It goes from bad to worse for Sheffield United...

Anthony Gordon goes down in the area under the challenge of Mason Holgate. The challenge starts outside the area but carries on into the box.

Alexander Isak is set to take the spot-kick.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 2-1 Sheffield United (Guimaraes 54')

Newcastle have turned it around!

Against the run of play, Bruno Guimaraes latches onto Anthony Gordon's beautiful free-kick to head into the back of the net at the back post.

It's a dagger to the heart for Sheffield United, they had started the second half really well.

As things stand, the Blades are one their way back to the Championship.

GOAL!!! Fulham 1-0 Palace (Muniz 52')

I said I wanted goals, and here they are!

Rodrigo Muniz has been brilliant for Fulham in 2024 and he fires the hosts into the lead with a diving header from within the six-yard box.

It was a lovely flowing move, exactly what this match was calling for.

GOAL!!! Wolves 2-0 Luton Town (Toti 50')

Rob Edwards' team talk obviously hasn't worked...

Wolves are now two goals to the good as Toti latches onto Mario Lemin's swinging cross to head home.

A great start to the second period for Wolves, a nightmare for Luton.

SECOND HALF!

Right, we are back underway in our 3pm kick-offs.

We were given just three goals in the first half across the four matches, let's hope for some more entertainment in the second.

I love goals if you couldn't tell.

Isak's home comforts

Alexander Isak loves St James' Park.

The Swede has been on fire lately and with today's goal he has now scored in seven straight home games in the Premier League.

I wouldn't bet against him bagging another in the second half.

Creative genius Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes can be hit or miss, but there is no denying his quality. he shows it with regularity.

With the chances he created in that first half, Fernande is the first Premier League player this season to create 100 chances.

Not a bad statistic is it, now he just needs to score or assist in this match...

HALF-TIME: Newcastle 1-1 Sheffield United

I'm gutted the whistle has been blown!

What a match this has been, both sides have been excellent, serving up numerous chances.

Sheffield United have arguably been the better side and took the lead after just 5 minutes through Anel Ahmedhodžić, but Alexander Isak's 18th league goal of the season drew Newcastle level.

In truth, this game could be 3-3. Remember, Sheffield United will be relegated if they lose today, and even a draw doesn't really do much for them.

GOOD SAVE! Newcastle 1-1 Sheffield United

Big chance for Lewis Hall, but he can't take it.

Hall does well to fire and effort through a load of bodies, but it is well saved by Wes Foderingham.

This is a brilliant game.

HALF-TIME: Fulham 0-0 Palace

This has not been the best of games.

Not many chances, not much atmosphere, and not much good football on display. It can only get better I guess.

Let's hope for some goals in the second half.

HALF-TIME: Man United 0-0 Burnley

The referee blows the half-time whistle, it's all square at the break at Old Trafford.

Both sides have had their chances, we've seen Bruno Fernandes hit the post, but the best moment of the chance saw Andre Onana produce a brilliant save to deny Lyle Foster.

Manchester United have once again not covered themselves in glory, but the way things are going you'd still expect them to win this game.

A big 45 coming up next.

HALF-TIME: Wolves 1-0 Luton Town

It's not going to plan for Luton Town.

You feel they need to win at Molineux if they are to achieve the survival that they crave, but if they are going to do it they'll have to come from behind.

It hasn't been the best of halves, but the match eventually came into its own and Hwang Hee-Chan's first goal of 2024 is the difference at the break.

A huge team talk incoming from Rob Edwards.

CHANCE! Fulham 0-0 Palace

Finally, there's a proper chance at Craven Cottage.

The games has struggled to spark into life, but Rodrigo Muniz tries to change that.

The Fulham striker forces himself through the Crystal Palace backline before seeing his effort saved by Dean Henderson.

Much better.

GOAL!!! Wolves 1-0 Luton Town (Hwang 39')

What a counter-attack by Wolves!

The hosts go from defence to attack with a flowing move which ends in Matheus Cunha sliding in Hwang Hee-Chan, who bends the ball home via a deflection.

Hwang finally gets his first goal of the year and there is nothing that can rule this one out.

The crowd cheers ironically as VAR confirms the goal.

WHAT A SAVE! Man United 0-0 Burnley

Oh my word, that is a stunning save from Andre Onana!

Lyle Foster looks like he is going to score, you expect the net to ripple as Foster meets the ball with his head, but somehow Onana reacts quickly enough to palm it wide.

That is one of the best saves I have seen in a long time, I have no idea how United are not ahead.

Man United 0-0 Burnley

Joe Bernstein, Mail Sport, at Old Trafford:

Vincent Kompany is the more animated manager in the technical area at Old Trafford. He’s seen Burnley weather the storm and now showing some attacking teeth of their own. United are having to play Casemiro at centre-half because of injuries so they can be got at.

HIT THE BAR! Newcastle 1-1 Sheffield United

What a match this is, it's end-to-end.

Mason Holgate has just smashed a header from close range against the bar before Andre Brooks somehow fires wide from the follow-up.

The visitors have to score there, I guess it's been their problem all season.

CLOSE! Newcastle 1-1 Sheffield United

Newcastle have come to life, and so has Alexander Isak.

The Swede comes close with a low-driven strike from the edge of the area that whistles just past the post.

Newcastle love to score a quick couple of goals, Tottenham can atest to that. Sorry Spurs fans.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 1-1 Sheffield United (Isak 26')

Against the run of play, Newcastle are level!

What a player Alexander Isak is, he runs in behind, meets Jacob Murphy's pass, and then drills the ball low into the corner.

Isak simply loves a goal at St James' Park and he showed right there why he is one of the best finishers in the league.

It feels cruel on Sheffield United though.

CHANCE! Wolves 0-0 Luton Town

Hwang Hee-Chan should score, but he doesn't.

The forward is sent through by Mario Lemina with a stunning pass, but he fires his effort straight at Thomas Kaminski.

He has to do better there, he should try and pick a corner!

HIT THE POST! Man United 0-0 Burnley

Bruno Fernandes rattles the post!

Manchester United just can't find the back of the net despite all their chances, and Fernandes is the next player to come close.

The ball falls to the United captain in the area and he smashes the woodwork with a fierce effort.

That really was a powerful strike.

BIG CHANCE! Newcastle 0-1 Sheffield United

That's a goal-saving challenge from Dan Burn.

Sheffield United should be two goals to the good, but Dan Burn flies in with a last-ditch tackle to prevent Cameron Archer from finding the back of the net after a lovely solo run.

The Blades are looking better than they have all season, which isn't too hard I guess.

Where has this football been, though?

CLOSE! Newcastle 0-1 Sheffield United

Newcastle United really want that equaliser.

Jacob Murphy comes close to getting it, he is given space around 25 yards out so he pulls the trigger.

However, his driven shot flies just wide. That was close!

A good response from the hosts.

GOOD SAVE! Man United 0-0 Burnley

Antony still can't get that elusive Premier League goal.

the Brazilian forward unleashes a fine strike at goal, but Arijanet Muric does very well to deny him.

I think he thought that was his moment, but he still has to wait a little longer.

Wolves 0-0 Luton Town

Luton have started so well, they are really up for this.

Carlton Morris manages to nick the ball off of Max Kilman and bares down on goal, but Kilman manages to get back at him to recover the ball as he is about to pull the trigger.

Ross Barkley also has a chance, but Jose Sa turns it away.

GOAL!!! Newcastle 0-1 Sheffield United (Ahmedhodžić 5')

A dream start for Sheffield United.

The Blades are on the brink of relegation, but they have taken the lead at St James' Park through Anel Ahmedhodžić.

It's a lovely goal, the Blades captain latches on to a lovely cross at the back post to head in.

Newcastle are in shock, and so are most Sheffield United fans probably.

CLOSE! Man United 0-0 Burnley

This has been a fast-paced start.

Now Manchester United flood forward as Alejandro Garnacho gets on the end of a brilliant Bruno Fernandes delivery, but he can't keep his header on target.

Could be some goals in this one, if we are going by the early moments.

Man United 0-0 Burnley

Manchester United love conceding shots don't they.

They have already faced their first as Burnley have their first shot on target after less than two minutes.

Datro Fofana gets on the end of Lyle Foster's through ball but fires straight at Andre Onana.

A good start from the Clarets.

KICK-OFF!

Here we go then, the ball is rolling in all four of our feature Premier League matches.

We could see relegation confirmed, European hopes dented, and much more.

It's set to be an enthralling afternoon.

Here come the teams!

The teams are out of the tunnel in all four 3pm kick-offs.

In my opinion, the most buzzing ground is Molineux at the moment. The music there is even getting me pumped up.

Kick-off is approaching!

Can Antony get his goal?

Antony is still yet to score a Premier League goal this season.

Yes, you read that right. Antony has had an extremely poor season, he just hasn't managed to make an impact in the United team.

He has just five chances left to net a league goal, will he manage it today?

'If Garnacho gets out of the blocks like Bolt, Burnley will be in trouble'

Joe Bernstein, Mail Sport, at Old Trafford:

The atmosphere at Old Trafford is a little more muted than usual so it’s great to see a genuine sporting superstar in the ground – Olympic champion and United diehard Usain Bolt.

It’s certainly a “Wow” moment spotting him. If Alejandro Garnacho can get out of the blocks like Usain today, Burnley will be in trouble.

Final preparations at Old Trafford

Manchester United are going through the motions in their final preparation before the game gets underway at Old Trafford.

I wonder what is being said between Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro to get the eyebrow raise by the Brazilian.

Whatever it is, they look like they are nice and relaxed.

SUBSTITUTION: Reporter change

The games may not have kicked off yet, but Mail Sport are making a change.

Luke Power's time on the blog has come to an end, he did an excellent job in the 60 minutes he had.

Sadly, you're now all stuck with me, Harry Bamforth, for the duration of this live text coverage.

I for one can't wait to get stuck in, we have just over 20 minutes until kick-off now. The anticipation is eating away at me.

Usain Bolt is at Old Trafford... any chance of some minutes?

I reckon he could do a job, you know...

Usain Bolt is in the crowd for Manchester United for Burnley today, likely as a fan, but why not pretend that he's got a chance of coming on?

His pivot to football a few years back, which saw him turn out for Central Coast Mariners in Australia, didn't exactly go to plan, but his reputation as the fastest man around will always fuel the conversation: 'do you think he could play up top for someone?'

CHRIS WHEELER: Marcus Rashford cannot be painted as an innocent victim when he is looking like the brash £315k-a-week footballer we hoped he wasn't... now selling him IS an option of Man United

Marcus Rashford was ruthless last season, but the reality is that two of his last three campaign, including this one, have been disappointing.

Chris Wheeler writes why Rashford, so long seen as a model for the club's academy system, is not indispensible.

Burnley lock in

We haven't given Burnley much love on this blog so far, so here's some footage of their players wearing headphones, chewing gum, and looking vaguely focused as they scope out Old Trafford.

Inside Sir Jim Ratcliffe's super-fit lifestyle

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the man aiming to transform Manchester United, ran the London marathon just a few minutes slower than Russ Cook, AKA the Hardest Geezer, who recently completed his run across the length of Africa.

That's some credit to Ratcliffe's fitness at the age of 71.

Dive into Dan Cancian's feature about his fitness freak lifestyle - including treks to the North AND South Poles - to find out more.

How do you rate Oliver Glasner so far?

The main thing I'd point out is that Crystal Palace are just more fun to watch under Oliver Glasner.

A recent 5-2 win over West Ham highlights their fresh impetus, and even in the 4-2 defeat by Manchester City, they gave it a good go and took the lead.

He's won four of his nine games so far, so it has been a good start. Can they hang on to their key talents in the summer?

West Ham draw level with Liverpool thanks to Michail Antonio

More twists and turns in London as Michail Antonio has headed West Ham level.

Catch the last 10 minutes or so of that with our live blog... but make sure you come right back here!

Ollie Arblaster captains Sheffield United again

He's only 19 but his star has risen rapidly and in captaining Ollie Arblaster again, you wonder if Chris Wilder is making a statement about the future.

Arblaster is the Blades' player of the month and they'll be eager to keep hold of him in the summer, but there are rumours of interest from a few top-flight sides.

NO changes for Manchester United

Erik ten Hag has kept faith in the team that almost messed up against Sheffield United in midweek.

It took two goals after the 80th minute to secure the victory, but in fairness, they had dominated the game.

Mason Mount, encouragingly, is on the bench.

Wolves vs Luton Town starting XIs released

Thanks to Wolves for being the only team to specify their changes, which makes the lives of breaking sports news reporters much easier.

Three changes for Wolves...

Fulham vs Crystal Palace starting XIs released

Newcastle vs Sheffield United starting XIs released

Manchester United vs Burnley starting XIs released

Tom Lockyer following Luton all the way

It's nice to see Tom Lockyer travelling with Luton to Wolves today.

He nearly died after suffering a cardiac arrest in a match against Bournemouth in December. One of football's most horrifying moments.

A gentleman and a much-loved figure in the Premier League.

Liverpool go 2-1 up at West Ham

Liverpool have gone 2-1 up thanks to an own goal from, well, officially Alphone Areola, although it looked as if an ugly deflection off Angelo Ogbonna turned it in at first glance.

The Reds will go level on points with Arsenal if things stay the same.

Do-or-die for Sheffield United

Sheffield United will be relegated from the Premier League if they lose at Newcastle today.

The stakes are sky-high for the Blades.

It's going to take a miracle to stay up. They meet a Newcastle side in decent form.

Mason Mount is back in the matchday squad

Luton roll up to the Wolves' den

It's just as well that Luton have turned up to Molineux because this is a critical game.

They are a point away from Nottingham Forest but are floundering. Luton have lost four of their last five, but they're lucky that Forest above them are stuttering. With Everton breezing, clear it's a four-way relegation scrap.

Wolves are fine and dandy under Gary O'Neil and can make a push for a top-half finish, which would be a remarkable achievement with a threadbare squad.

Craven Cottage awaits

In the most mid-table clash of the day, 13th-placed Fulham try to fend off 14th-placed Crystal Palace.

Craven Cottage is sold out today - a testament to the passion of the fans considering their exorbitant ticket prices.

Palace are finding their groove under new gaffer Oliver Glasner, who, by virtue of not being the hot seat occupant, is feeling that new manager bounce. They've won three in a row now and are playing some good stuff. Jean-Philippe Mateta is playing his best Premier League football.

Andy Robertson has just levelled for Liverpool at the London Stadium as they chase down the Premier League title. It's his first goal since September and what a crucial one it could be.

Mail Sport's Lewis Browning is on live updates for that one.

Newcastle taunt Sheffield United with bad memories

There's nothing like striking fear into the hearts of your opponents by reminding them of the time you broke their hearts.

Newcastle gave Sheffield United an 8-0 pummelling on their own turf back in September, with eight different goalscorers getting in on the act. Seemingly every player to play for the club besides Alan Shearer was on the scoresheet.

The Magpies have just posted a video to remind Blades fans of this.

Bruno Fernandes: Mainoo and Garnacho are 'great', but we can't rely on them so much

Bruno Fernandes has warned his Manchester United team-mates that they need to 'step up' and take responsibility for performances, rather than relying on the eager young guns to bail them out.

The club captain is speaking from experience here as he has undoubtedly stepped up recently and he wants his fellow senior figures to follow suit.

Good afternoon

Hello and welcome to Mail Sport's live blog of today's 3pm kick-offs!

We've got four match-sized treats for you today, headlined by Manchester United's home clash against Burnley.

The imperative to win is urgent for both sides as United look to cement their European ambitions, while Burnley, three points from safety, look to get, well, safe.

We'll also have updates from Newcastle vs Sheffield United, Wolves vs Luton, and Fulham vs Crystal Palace.

Team news to follow in the next 30 minutes or so.
