Real Madrid began their 2022/23 season just like they ended their previous campaign: with a trophy.
Los Blancos proved a class above Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night, with goals from David Alaba and Karim Benzema enough to secure Madrid's fifth UEFA Super Cup.

Courtois
The saviour of the final in France stood strong in Finland as well. He did well to deny Frankfurt in a one-on-one in the 14th minute, and was alert in the 24th minute as well.
Carvajal
The full-back looked decent after a pre-season in which he's had a few physical problems. His passing was inaccurate at times, though he was tested defensively more often than Mendy.
Militao
After agreeing a new contract that will keep him with Madrid until 2028, Ancelotti once again turned to him alongside Alaba. The Brazilian was energetic and quick to shut down any Frankfurt attack.
Alaba
He began his second season with Real Madrid just like he did his first: as though he's spent his entire career with Los Blancos. Calmly fired his side ahead after some poor Frankfurt defending.
Mendy
Overconfident at times, the Frenchman lost a dangerous ball that forced Courtois into action
Modric
The Croatian continues to be the standard bearer in midfield. Wasn't his best performance in a Madrid shirt, but made his presence felt nonetheless before coming off in the 67th minute.
Casemiro
He still has the faith of Ancelotti despite a somewhat underwhelming 2021/22 and the signing of Tchouameni. Repaid the coach's faith by setting up Alaba and then firing from distance at the end of the first half. Suffered in space at times, but showed his worth in the second half by hitting the crossbar and stopping two promising Frankfurt attacks.
Kroos
The brain of Ancelotti's team, he looked up for the challenge after a great preseason. Went into half-time leading Madrid in nearly all major categories: total passes (63, 92.1 percent accurate), key passes (3), touches (76), tackles (3), interceptions (2). He'll have to keep this up all season given his contract expires next summer.
Fede Valverde
Looks more comfortable as a midfielder than a false winger, but performs regardless of where he plays. Nearly helped Madrid open the scoring inside the first 15 minutes thanks to his legs and verticality. It will be tough for anyone to dislodge him from the starting line-up. Came off in the 76th minute.
Benzema
Carried over the strong play that made him the favourite for the 2022 Ballon d'Or. Played a part in Alaba's opener and threatened the Frankfurt defence with regularity. Linked up with Vinicius and fired home the goal that ended proceedings after 67 minutes.
Vinicius
The hero of last season's Champions League final, Vinicius came close to opening the scoring in the 17th minute. His play resulted in the corner that led to Alaba's goal. Assisted Benzema on the second as the two continued their strong connection.
Rodrygo
Came on for Modric in the 67th minute.
Camavinga
Came on for Valverde in the 76th minute.
Rudiger
Replaced Carvajal in the 85th minute, making his debut in an official match at right-back after playing on the left in Las Vegas.
Tchouameni
Replaced Kroos in the 85th minute and took his place alongside Casemiro.
Ceballos
Came on for Vinicius in the 85th minute. Significant move from Ancelotti given the player's uncertain future.
