Madrid dropped their first two points of the league season after seven games

Karim Benzema missed a penalty for Real Madrid in the 80th minute as Osasuna held them to a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The French striker, back after injury, could have won Madrid the game but spurned his penalty, hitting the crossbar.

Vinicius Junior had sent Madrid ahead with a cross that ended up in the back of the net by chance, but Kike Garcia levelled early in the second half with a fine back-header.

Garcia pushed over Benzema in the area and was sent off but the striker could not convert the penalty - and he missed two against Herrera last season.

Madrid and Barcelona are level on 19 points at the top of the table after seven games, but the Catalans are ahead on goal difference.
