Los Blancos also had to rely on the sale of future earnings to get by last season

The Santiago Bernabeu reforms have become the biggest worry for Florentino Perez, the Real Madrid president, on a financial level. The works have pushed the club's debt from 890 million euros to 1.5 billion, according to the accounts from last season, which were presented on Sunday at the AGM.

The Madrid president already needed is own 'palanca' to be able to increase the club's revenue by over 500 million euros in respect to the previous season.

An agreement with the American financers Sixth Street, specialists in stadiums, who acquired 30 percent of the revenue from the new Bernabeu for the next 20 years, brought in 316 million euros.

But for that agreement, Madrid would have closed the previous campaign, 21-22, with losses of around 127 million euros, and not with a net profit of 12.94 million euros. That's to say, the financial results were not as positive as the club 'sold' to their members during the AGM.
