Carlo Ancelotti did not name a single Spanish player in his XI for the game at Villarreal
Real Madrid made history o Saturday against Villarreal -- but it was not because they lost 2-1 at El Madrigal, denting their title hopes.
According to information from the journalist Mister Chip, Madrid fielded a starting XI without any Spanish players for the first time in their 121-year history.
After 4,436 matches, Carlo Ancelotti decided to go with a team full of foreigners. The starting XI has been made up of: Courtois, Militao, Alaba, Rüdiger, Mendy, Tchouaméni, Kroos, Modric, Valverde, Vinicius and Benzema.
Carvajal possibly would have started but he is out due to injury and Asensio remained on the bench with the presence of Fede Valverde on the right.
Among the substitutes, however, there were six Spaniards: Luis López, Nacho, Lucas, Asensio, Vallejo and Dani Ceballos.
Recently, this fact almost occurred in the Champions League, although against the Sheriff last season, Real Madrid only ended up without any Spaniards after Lucas Vázquez came off.
