Despite his love of golf and thousands of hours spent on the golf course, it turns out that Gareth Bale has never managed to score a hole-in-one. Well, that was until Wednesday of this week, when he broke that unlucky streak in the most spectacular way possible.
The former Real Madrid star spent the afternoon on a rather grey Torrey Pines Golf Course in California precisely on the day 'Los Blancos' were hammered 4-0 by Manchester City in the second leg of the semifinals of the Champions League.
The coincidence-or maybe not- of Bale going wild on his golf course after scoring a spectacular hole-in-one on the night his former side were humiliated by the Pep Guardiola's was reminiscient of his famous banner ("Wales, Golf, Madrid... in that order" ) which he displayed after his national team's victory over Hungary that confirmed their qualification for Euro 2020.
A video of the moment has surfaced on social media, and it makes for spectacular viewing. After striking the ball, Bale waited eagerly to see where the ball would land, with the hole-in-one being confirmed by wild celebrations of Welshman and his friends. Bale appeared to celebrate even harder than he did after scoring in the Champions final. To be fair, it was a pretty special moment.
