Eduardo Camavinga has agreed a lucrative contract extension with Real Madrid which ties him to the Spanish club until 2028 and sees his release clause rise to one billion euros. The deal has been in the works over the course of the season and has been finalised in the last few days.
The 20-year-old Frenchman has become an important player in the last couple of years and with the club keen to secure his future, the improved terms are a reward for the progress he has made. Club directors are said to be delighted not only with his performances on the pitch but his attitude as well, especially as he has been asked to play in a number of different positions by Carlo Ancelotti.
Camavinga is a player and signing who perfectly encapsulates the current strategy at the Bernabeu: acquiring top young talent from around the world when they are on the cusp of being ready for the first team and developing them. The Angolan-born midfielder was brought in back in August 2021 for a relatively modest 30 million euros from Rennes.
A clear signal
Just as with the renewals of Eder Militao, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior last summer, Real Madrid have not made known the details of the agreement with Camavinga. MARCA understands that all four will be announced this summer and that these deals prove the importance of these young players to the future of the club.
Ancelotti is clear on what the France international brings to the table and he intends to use him more as a central midfielder next season. That's where his capabilities are best deployed, allowing him to both create and break up play.
