Fans were heaping praise on Manuel Neuer for his performance against Real Madrid when the veteran goalkeeper gifted Los Blancos an equaliser in the dying stages of the champions league semi-final.

Neuer had made string of fine saves before Alphonso Davies gave Bayern Munich the lead with a thunderous strike midway through the second half.

Madrid were starting to get desperate as the game neared injury time but they were given a lifeline as Vincius Jr's relatively tame effort was spilled into Joselu's path by Neuer.

The substitute tucked it away to level the tie and then compounded Neuer's misery by putting the hosts ahead three minutes later.

Fans couldn't believe their eyes as one of the greatest keepers of all time made the most uncharacteristic of mistakes to cost his side their lead.

Another posted: '87 minutes of absolute brilliance, only to make a costly error... cruel, cruel moment.'

Bayern never recovered from Joselu's quick-fire double and Madrid booked their place in yet another Champions league final.

Carlo Ancelotti's side showed once again why you can never count them out and Bayern will end the season trophyless for the first time in 12 years.
