Former England manager Fabio Capello has revealed what new position he would play Jude Bellingham in. 

The 20-year-old is set to play in his first Champions League final, when Real Madrid play Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday night. 

Bellingham has enjoyed a stunning debut season at the Santiago Bernabeu, scoring 23 goals and registering 12 assists in 41 appearances.

Speaking to the Sun, Capello has compared Bellingham to legendary German international Lothar Matthaus and suggested that he could play as a second striker. 

He said: 'Bellingham's position is hybrid. And that's why it's difficult to compare him with other players. But I think of Lothar Matthaus a long time ago, who was more or less like that.'

Capello added: 'He's good both in midfield, as he immediately gets where the match is headed to, and also inside the penalty area.

'I think that's the position he needs to play in. As a second forward.

'He can inflict a lot of damage in that position because he has this ability to just penetrate the defence and find the right spots.

'And he's someone who also helps the team out. In my opinion, he can really inflict a lot of damage in that position. As a manager, that's how I'd use him.'

Capello coached England from 2007 to 2012, guiding them to the Round of 16 at the 2010 South Africa World Cup, but leaving shortly before Euro 2012.

However, he enjoyed a lot of success as a club manager,  winning league titles with AC Milan, Real Madrid and Roma. 

Bellingham's stunning season has led to him being named football's most valuable player, worth an astonishing £236m by the CIES Football Observatory.

He made a massive contribution towards Real Madrid winning LaLiga and he is a contender for the next Ballon d'Or award - an argument which will only strengthen if they win the Champions League. 

Bellingham has been urged to 'cement his legacy' by former Chelsea star Joe Cole ahead of the game against his former side Borussia Dortmund.

He told Mail Sport: 'I love Jude! I think he's amazing. If I was managing Jude now, I'd be saying, "I don't want you doing the media". 

'Everyone's clambering them in this country. So, I would be saying, I don't care what the media men say, what the sponsors say, if I'm looking after Jude Bellingham, forget all that. 

'Go and become the great player that you you already are, but go and cement your legacy and win. Enjoy yourself. More importantly, take it all in. He doesn't need to be running around answering questions.'
