A blagger has told how he sneaked into the Champions League final at Wembley and ended up rubbing shoulders with a host of VIPs including super model Naomi Campbell and heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Steve Carruthers was able to bypass a 'ring of steel' security operation put in force by the FA and make his way into the final where he watched Real Madrid defeat Borussia Dortmund.

The 33-year-old – who has snuck into numerous sporting events and even a Hollywood BAFTA party – was able to enjoy five-star treatment in the VIP section of the stadium.

Despite not having a ticket for the final Steve travelled from his home in Hull, East Yorkshire, with his four-year-old son in the hope of talking his way in.

Dressed in a suit and tie, Steve said he simply followed behind a genuine ticket holder into Club Wembley – the section reserved for VIPs who are able to be entertained in a private box overlooking the pitch.

Once inside, he spotted supermodel Campbell, world heavyweight champion Usyk and Ukrainian football legend Andriy Shevchenko.

He was able to enjoy a champagne buffet meal before taking his seat in the stadium among the Dortmund fans.

Steve said: 'I've done this so many times before I thought I'd give it a go and try the Champions League final . My partner was away so I had to take my son, Jacob. 'When we got to the stadium, I just followed someone with a ticket as they went through into Club Wembley. It helped that I was wearing a suit and Jacob was with me.

'No one stopped me or asked if I had a ticket. It was quite simple and I thought I would be stopped but no one said anything.

'I made my way to the VIP area and just took my seat to enjoy a meal and drinks.

'Everyone else seemed to have a lanyard round their neck but I wasn't challenged once. I was able to go where I wanted. Inside corridor running alongside corporate boxes Steve spotted Newcastle owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghoudoussi, Juventus manager Massimilano Aleggri and former world player of the year Kaka. After enjoying the lavish spread laid on for the VIPs Steve made his way into the ground and took a seat among the Dortmund fans.

When the genuine ticket holder turned up to claim his seat Steve just moved to the next empty seat.

He said: 'It was meant to be a sellout, but there are always some spare seats. No one asked to see my ticket and my son and I enjoyed the match.

'To get the sort of access I got would cost about £10,000. It was a great night. I've done this many times, but this is my last time, and what a way to go out.'

It is not the first time Steve has blagged his way into major sporting events. Nine years ago he pretended to be part of the actor Leonardo Di Caprio's entourage to get a ringside seat the 'fight of the century' between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

He mingled with a host of Hollywood stars, including Christian Bale, Michael Keaton and Paris Hilton and also posed with Donald Trump.

When England beat Germany in 2020 at Wembley he used the same trick of following in a genuine ticket holder to gain access to the VIP section where he posed for a selfie with David Beckham and later singer Ed Sheeran.

Four years ago he donned a black tie to attend a BAFTA party where he posed for photos with Helen Mirren, Elton John and Quentin Tarantino.

Following the shocking scenes at the Euro final between England and Italy in 2020 with thousands of ticketless fans forcing their way into the stadium the FA and police launched a £5m security operation for last weekend's final.

Enhanced ticket checks and a increased number of stewards were put in place but didn't stop police arresting 53 people who attempted to force their way into the ground A spokesman for the FA has been contacted for comment.
