The Policia Nacional has arrested a Real Oviedo fan for making racist gestures and sounds from the home crowd at the Carlos Tartiere stadium during the match between the Asturian club and Real Madrid on August 24, according to the Jefatura Superior de Asturias. The fan, arrested for a crime against moral integrity and a hate crime after being identified thanks to the analysis of images and videos, made movements and sounds imitating a monkey in the 37th minute, coinciding with the celebration of the first goal by the visiting team, which was scored by Kylian Mbappe. After making a statement at the police station, the man was placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 1 on duty in Oviedo. In addition, he was proposed for administrative sanction for infringement of the Law against violence, racism, xenophobia and intolerance in sport, which provides for fines of 60,000 to 650,000 euros for very serious offences, as well as bans on access to sports grounds.
