Gavi scored one and made two as Barça blew Madrid away in Saudi Arabia
Barcelona beat Real Madrid 3-1 to win the Spanish Supercopa on Sunday and claim the club's first trophy under coach Xavi Hernandez.
Gavi scored one and set up goals for Robert Lewandowski and Pedri before Madrid scored a late consolation through Karim Benzema.
It is Barca's first piece of silverware since they won the Copa del Rey under Ronald Koeman almost two years ago and their first Supercopa since 2018.
Barca hope it will provide a platform for more success this season with Xavi's side still fighting for LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Europa League.
Madrid won when the two teams met in LaLiga earlier this season but this was a completely different game.
Thibaut Courtois made a brilliant save from Lewandowski in the 12th minute, tipping the Polish striker's low shot onto the post.
Benzema headed over for Madrid but this was a first half controlled by Barca and the soon took a deserved lead.
Sergio Busquets won the ball back and Pedri, Ousmane Dembele and Lewandowski combined to set up Gavi.
The second came soon after when Frenkie de Jong freed Gavi to turn provider for Lewandowski.
Dembele could have made it three in the second half, but he was denied by the brilliant Courtois.
It was three soon enough, though, when Gavi grabbed his second assist and set up Pedri, who also had a brilliant match.
Madrid grabbed a late consolation through Benzema but the game had long been over.
