Thibaut Courtois has uploaded a new post to his social networks in which his leg is already bandaged after suffering a serious injury on Thursday morning.
The photo, in which he is seen in his living room with his leg raised, is accompanied by a message from the Real Madrid goalkeeper.
"You never expect to go through something like this, but now you have to accept it and do everything to overcome it and come back even stronger," Courtois posted on Instagram.
"Thanks to everyone for the energy, love and encouragement, I assure you that it motivates me to recover as soon as possible."
A serious setback
The alarm bells went off in training during the morning session on Thursday. The goalkeeper had to withdraw with discomfort in his left knee. The bad omens were confirmed after the relevant tests as he had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee.
The Belgian will have to undergo surgery and will be out of action for approximately seven months. With this setback, Los Blancos are considering entering the market to bring in a reliable replacement. There are several names on the radar: De Gea, Kepa and even Bono.
Support from his teammates
The reactions of his teammates have not been long in coming, starting with the captain.
"All your team, with you until the end. Courage and strength Tibu. We are waiting for you soon and stronger than ever" wrote Nacho Fernandez on his social networks.
He was joined by Dani Carvajal.
"I'm very sorry to see you in this situation. We are with you every step of the way to recovery. You are a warrior and I know you will overcome this challenge. You are not alone! Lots of strength Tibu!
The likes of Dani Ceballos and Arda Guler, who are in the process of recovering from their own respective injuries, were also quick to offer support.
"Companero, you'll come back stronger. We are all with you, we want you back with us. All the encouragement in the world," said the Andalusian.
The Turkish player, who has also been in the news today when it was confirmed that he will undergo surgery, has uploaded a story on his social networks showing his support for the goalkeeper.
"Come back soon Courtois. I'm sure you'll come back stronger."
