Fans claim Kylian Mbappe 'definitely watched' Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid unveiling, as supporters notice striking similarities between the two stars' Bernabeu introductions

Fans believe that Kylian Mbappe 'definitely watched' Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid unveiling before he was introduced as the club's newest Galatico on Tuesday.

To some the French superstar's presentation bore an uncanny resemblance to his idol's at the Bernabeu 15 years ago.

Mbappe beamed as he spoke about joining the 'club of his dreams' after being teed up by a performance from Andrea Bocelli, an extended montage of his highlights, and a speech from club president Florentino Perez.

Some 80,000 Madridistas serenaded the 25-year-old, who - like Ronaldo - will wear the No 9 for Los Blancos. But following the event, some supporters have drawn a connection to the ceremonies of the two star players.

The source of comparison for fans on social media is a short side-by-side clip of Ronaldo and Mbappe's respective presentations, which has led several to point out similarities.

Kylian Mbappe was finally unveiled as a Real Madrid player at the Bernabeu on Tuesday

It comes 15 years after his idol Cristiano Ronaldo was introduced to similar fanfare following a then-world record £80m transfer from Manchester United

'Mbappe definitely watched Cristiano Ronaldo’s presentation the night before,' one supporter wrote on X. Another remarked that the Les Blues skipper was 'taking the moves step by step like it a movie.'

Kylian Mbappe leaves fans stunned as he nails Real Madrid unveiling speech in 'perfect' Spanish

While another noted: 'He wants to be like Cristiano Ronaldo so badly! He is a proper fanboy.'

It's unlikely that Mbappe would argue with that take, given his well publicised adoration of the Portuguese legend. Growing up in Bondy in the northeastern suburbs of Paris, Mbappe reserved two of his bedroom walls for posters of Ronaldo.

It wasn't long before he got to meet his hero after receiving tickets from his parents to see Ronaldo in action for Real Madrid when they played Marseille at the Stade Velodrome in the Champions League.

Mbappe, who was still only 10 at the time, attended the December 2009 fixture and savoured every moment of it.

Mbappe was moved to tears after seeing Ronaldo up close and personal and was teased by his friends when he returned to Bondy, but he brushed it off.

The 25-year-old walked past Madrid's 15 Champions League trophies as he took to the stage to speak

'I don't care, you can make fun of me. I saw CR7, and where were you?' he replied.

It is clear that Ronaldo and Mbappe shared similar actions in their respective unveilings, including adjusting their new shirts, kissing the badge, waving to the crowd and declaring the famed words 'Hala Madrid!'

Though, one could argue that these are practices done by every person that is introduced as a Los Blancos player.

On Tuesday, Mbappe's mother broke down in tears as he emerged and spoke of his pride to be joining the 'biggest club in the history of world football'.

'My family are so happy. I can see my mum crying. It's an incredible day for me. I've dreamed about this day since I was a kid. Being here today means a lot to me,' he said in Spanish as the crowd persistently interrupted his speech with cheers.

'Now I have another dream - and that's the dream of living up to this club's history and Madridistas' expectations. I can promise that I will give my all for the club and this badge.

Around 80,000 fans have arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu to witness his unveiling earlier this week

'I'd also like a send a message to all the kids here today. I was once like you. If you have the passion, you'll achieve your dreams.

'I'm very excited and emotional. The fact that I'm talking so much means that it's very important for me to be here today. This is the club of my dreams and the biggest club in the history of world football.'

Kylian Mbappe set to be put on a 'Cristiano Ronaldo-style fitness plan' at Real Madrid

Mbappe spent seven years in the French capital and was wildly successful, lifting seven Ligue 1 titles, but the Champions League has always eluded him.

He has agreed to take a major pay cut after signing a five-year contract and is due to receive £12.8million net a season at Madrid, down from the £21.4m net he earned in Paris.

Despite losing out in terms of basic wage Mbappe will be paid a sizeable signing on fee understood to be over £85.6m and will keep an 80 per cent share of image rights on any new commercial deals he signs after becoming a Madrid player. This breaks from the normal 50-50 split the club usually imposes on new players.

Mbappe's decision to leave Paris for Madrid has been welcomed in the Spanish capital as the final piece in the puzzle for Ancelotti to lead a team that can dominate European football for the next decade.

A throng of supporters greeted Mbappe outside the ground to try and get photos and autographs

After his exit was confirmed, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi left the door open to him returning one day. 'I wish him all the best,' he said.

‘He did amazing for us in seven years and was vice captain. He arrived with us as a teenager and now he is a big man, the best player in the world and I wish him all the best.’
