Real Madrid's stuttering LaLiga start continues at Las Palmas

Vinicius Jr rescued a point for a below par Real Madrid side who came away from the Estadio Gran Canaria with a 1-1 draw against Las Palmas to add more questions the poor LaLiga EA Sports start.

In this instance, Mbappe was chosen to play through the middle as the Italian coach continues to search for the perfect amount of balance in his star-studded attack.

Jude Bellingham's continued absence forced changes in midfield as Aurelien Tchouameni partnered Luka Modric and Federico Valverde across the middle of the park.

With Los Merengues obviously still adjusting to the new personnel in their ranks, they started slowly as Las Palmas caused them early problems.

Alberto Moleiro was the first to waste a good chance, as he broke free of the Real Madrid defense only to see his through-ball into the box blocked.

However, Moleiro wasn't to be deterred as he opened the scoring just minutes later. Oliver McBurnie has given Las Palmas a new physical element in attack, and he made full use of that as he held off defenders and played a pass into the path of Moleiro inside the penalty area.

He made no mistake this time around, putting the ball into the back of the net with a cool finish. It seemed as though Las Palmas were going to pile even more misery onto their opponents, as McBurnie had a chance to double their advantage after 10 minutes.

The former Sheffield United forward received the ball inside the penalty area and was one-on-one with Thibaut Courtois, forcing an exceptional reflex save out of the Belgian stopper, although his effort did lack power.

Federico Valverde had the best Real Madrid chance of the half, taking a low shot towards goal from a direct free-kick, however Jasper Cillessen was able to parry the ball away from goal.

Cillessen was again on hand just before half-time when Antonio Rudiger took a snap shot from inside the penalty area, making a smart save.

Real Madrid improved in the second-half

The second-half brought a much better Real Madrid onto the pitch, with Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. combining well.

The Frenchman broke through on goal after 51 minutes, beating defenders left and right, however his powerful shot was blocked by a defender before it had chance to test Cillessen.

Cillessen was every inch the former Barcelona goalkeeper on Thursday evening, and he made yet another save just before the hour.

Mbappe fired another shot towards the roof of the net, however the Dutch keeper tipped it onto the crossbar and away from danger.

Arda Guler's introduction only increased the tempo of Real Madrid's attacking play and it was no surprise when the visitors were rewarded for piling on the pressure.

After 67 minutes Los Blancos were given a penalty when Alex Suarez was adjudged to have handled the ball inside the penalty area.

Vinicius Jr. stepped up to the spot and converted the penalty to make it 1-1 with around 20 minutes left to play.

Real Madrid pummelled the Las Palmas goal but were unable to fashion any clear cut chances, then in the final moments the home side had the ball in the back of the net, but Mata's strike was ruled out for offside.
