Roberto Carlos has been discharged after the heart operation he underwent. "I thank the entire medical team for their attention, care and treatment during this period," wrote the Real Madrid and Brazil legend on social media, along with a photo posing with the doctors who treated him before leaving the hospital.
Roberto Carlos underwent surgery at a hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on December 30, after medical tests revealed a heart problem. "I underwent a preventive medical procedure, previously planned with my medical team. The procedure was successful and I am fine. I did not have a heart attack. I am confident in myself, recovering well and looking forward to getting back to full fitness and resuming my professional and personal commitments soon," the former footballer said after the operation.

Correct the heart problem
The initial reason for his visit to the hospital was not related to his heart. Roberto Carlos went to undergo tests for a thrombus detected in one leg, as part of a routine medical check-up. After performing an MRI and complementary tests, the doctors detected that a significant percentage of his heart was not working properly, which led to the decision to operate immediately.
The operation, initially planned for around 40 minutes, lasted almost three hours due to complications during the procedure to implant a catheter to help correct the heart problem. The player will now continue his recovery outside the hospital.
