The Manchester United legend and current Inter Miami co-owner recently shared his thoughts on what his historic move to Real Madrid in 2003 meant, describing the experience as unique in the world of sport.

After a stellar career with the Red Devils, where he won six Premier League titles, Beckham landed at the Santiago Bernabeu for around £25 million. Although he was already accustomed to the demands of the elite, the Englishman confessed in a chat with talkSPORT that the Spanish club operates in a different dimension.

"Obviously, having grown up in Manchester, Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs, if not the biggest club in the world in my opinion," he said.

The impact of playing for Real Madrid

For Beckham, who played 159 official matches with the Merengue team and recorded 20 goals and 52 assists, the pressure came not only from the results, but also from the institution itself and how the rest of the world perceives Madrid.

"But at Real Madrid, you arrive, you walk into that stadium, you put that shirt on, you look at the history of the club... everything about them feels different," Beckham explained.

"I remember my first season, going into other stadiums, people look at you differently, they treat you differently. You come in and it's an incredible feeling. So there's a certain amount of pressure that comes with that," concluded the legendary former player.
