Following Roma's 1-1 draw with Sassuolo on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho called one of his players a traitor, albeit without naming him.
He invited that player to depart the club in January and several reports emerged revealing that the player singled out by Mourinho was Rick Karsdorp, who was then not in Roma's squad to face Torino on Sunday.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Karsdorp has gone to his native Netherlands with his family ahead of the break that Mourinho had already planned to for his squad following this last game before the World Cup.
"We have to put Roma and their interests above all else," Roma general manager Tiago Pinto said.
"We decided that the best thing for everyone was for him not to be there."
It has become quite clear, therefore, that Karsdorp was the player Mourinho was referring to in midweek.
