Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been called up to feature for Sweden in the upcoming international break. The AC Milan striker has recently recovered from a serious knee injury and Sweden coach Jan Andersson has announced that the 41-year-old star has made the list for the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Andersson stressed that Ibrahimovic should not be expected to be a starter, but he can undertake a role similar to the one his has in Italy, coming off the bench to contribute after the break.

"Zlatan and I have kept in touch throughout this period during his injury," the Sweden coach noted.

"Now he feels good to contribute on the field. His personality and his experience can also contribute a lot to the squad. He is unique."

Ibrahimovic retired from the national team after the 2016 European Championship, but he returned five years later. However, injuries prevented him from participating in the last Euros and in the first 2022 World Cup qualifying matches.

Already playing with AC Milan

The former Ajax, Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester United returned to action a few weeks ago after overcoming a knee injury, one which had kept him out for nine months.

Sweden are in Group F. They will face Belgium on the March 24 at the Friends Arena in Stockholm and, three days later they will host Azerbaijan at the same stadium.
