'He's been through a difficult time outside of football': Harry Kane says Tottenham are pulling together for Antonio Conte after Italian boss lost two close friends in four months - and reveals they a had squad meeting over poor form

Harry Kane revealed Spurs' squad are pulling together for Antonio Conte after the head coach mourned the death of two close friends in the last four months.

Kane was speaking after netting the winner in Tottenham's away trip to Fulham, which they won 1-0 thanks to an emphatic strike from the England captain.

In conversation with Sky Sports, the forward admitted that Spurs' first-team manager has had a 'difficult time outside of football' and the team are hoping to distract him from that.

The Tottenham forward said: 'He's been through a difficult time outside of football with his personal life. Being part of a team isn't just the players, it's the manager, the staff and being there for each other.

'We want to win every game for him. He puts so much passion into every training session. And we want to repay him with victories. We had a good meeting amongst ourselves with the manager in the week just to talk and get back.

'We are going to keep fighting, like the manager. He is a passionate manager and we just have to keep working hard for him.'

Towards the end of 2022, Conte mourned the death of Tottenham fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone and ex-team-mate Gianluca Vialli.

Ventrone passed suddenly in October last year after a battle with leukaemia, while former Chelsea boss Vialli passed due to pancreatic cancer earlier this month.

As a consequence, it is has thrown doubt over the Italian's future in north London as he continues to deal with the difficult ordeals from last year.

Kane was speaking after notching the winner in Tottenham's Premier League trip to Craven Cottage on Monday night.

The England captain popped up with a goal just before half-time after swivelling away from Fulham's Tim Ream and firing an effort into the back of the net.

The goal brought Kane up to 266 goals in his Tottenham career and level with club legend Jimmy Greaves.

The England forward will be hoping to surpass Greaves in Spurs' next outing, as they travel to Preston North End in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
