South Korea lost in the semi-finals of the Asian Cup on Tuesday, surprisingly beaten by Jordan who are ranked 87th in the world.
It was Al Naimat and Sulaiman Al Tamari who found the back of the net for Jordan to secure a 2-0 victory over Son's team.
Heung-min Son will return to training at Tottenham on Thursday with the aim of being back in contention against Brighton on Saturday
South Korea's Asia Cup exit means team captain Son, who delivered an emotional apology to fans after the defeat, could be available for Tottenham against Brighton on Saturday.
Richarlison has filled the goal-scoring void left by Son, netting nine times in his last eight league matches, meaning the South Korean would likely come in for new January signing Timo Werner.
The German - who struggled at Chelsea during his last Premier League stint - has started each of Tottenham's last four matches on the left flank, assisting twice in that time.
However, Tottenham's captain could not hide his disappointment after South Korea's exit from the Asian Cup. He said: 'I'm devastated at the result. Jordan are having an amazing journey this tournament, it's incredible and they deserve it. They're fighting until the end and it's very disappointing for us.'
Speaking to the South Korean fans after the game, the crestfallen forward continued: ‘I don’t know what to say really. I am so sorry.
‘The players did their best. I’m very sorry that the game is ended like this by mistakes. The fans showed us great support, I’m sorry we could not deliver as our fans expected. I’ll try harder so that the national team can grow further in the future. Again, I’m very sorry.’
