Jurgen Klopp is a special coach. Pure fire on the sidelines, with a ruthless character in matches, but all heart off the pitch. Whenever he can, he tries to help others. A few years ago, his response to a letter sent to him by an 11-year-old boy went viral. Now he has made a touching gesture to a colleague.

Sven-Goran Eriksson, 75 years old and with a long and brilliant career in several countries, admitted in an interview this week that he is very ill with cancer and that the prognosis is that he has about 12 months to live. "In the best case, I have a year left. At worst, a little less," he said in an interview with public broadcaster Radio Sweden.

The coach also acknowledged that he had something pending in his career, a desire he was never able to fulfill.

"I'm a Liverpool fan, so I've always wanted to be their manager and that's not going to happen, but I'm still a Liverpool fan," he said.

A wonderful day

Klopp was brought up on those comments by Eriksson and duly responded. "I don't know him personally, unfortunately. I first heard about his admiration or love for Liverpool and that he was a supporter all his life," he said.

"Sven, you are invited from the bottom of all our hearts to come here and you can have my office, you can lead a session if you want. That's all no problem.

"Open arms. Come over here and let's have a few great hours together."
