Liverpool fans are divided on Arne Slot's appointment after it was revealed the Premier League giants had reached an agreement with Feyenoord to make the Dutchman their new manager. 

The Merseyside club have agreed a compensation package for Slot to succeed Klopp, with Mail Sport reporting on Friday morning that figure could reach up to £9.42million. 

The agreement also is expected to include a move for Slot's right-hand man Sipke Hulshoff, who has done a secondment at the Netherlands national team, and head of performance Ruben Peeters.

The Liverpool fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the appointment, with some praising Slot's 'attacking style' and hailing him as the 'best coach in the history of football'. 

While others questioned whether Slot had enough experience to make it in the Premier League before stating he 'looks like a manager that will be getting the sack soon'.

One Liverpool fans took to social media to share their belief that Slot's style of play would not only suit Liverpool, but be beneficial for the squad.   

They wrote: 'I am so excited to have a coach who will coach positive attacking football with principles which will lead us to have control in matches.'

They went on to add: 'That’s all I want above all and I believe Slot’s football is going to suit so many players in this squad to a tee.'

Another supporter drew parallels between Klopp's appointment and Slot's arrival, claiming the 'new era' at Liverpool will be 'exciting'.

They wrote: 'The same people who picked Jurgen Klopp are picking Arne Slot. Klopp has built a deep, young squad that is ready to succeed. We'll miss Klopp, but the new era is exciting too!'.

Meanwhile, another fan added that Slot is a 'shrewd' appointment that has been 'backed by a coherent and unified structure'.

They said 'Excited for our next chapter. Arne Slot is a shrewd appointment, backed by a coherent and unified structure. It doesn’t need to be said that the culture at Liverpool Football Club is special—as fans, we play our own role in his success.

'Trust the process.'

However, some fans were less impressed with Liverpool's appointment - questioning Slot's experience and his ability to manage a club of such pedigree in the hardest league in the world. 

One Chelsea fan said that Liverpool would 'become a normal club again' once Klopp departs, while another football fan added: 'From Jurgen Klopp, 4* aura, to Arne Slot, -aura. What a fall from grace man'. 

One Liverpool fan said: 'I remember jumping in my room going wild when we appointed Klopp. Arne Slot? I feel nothing... just yet'. While another added: 'Bald, Dutch. It can't go wrong', poking fun at Man United boss Erik ten Hag. 

Klopp - who has been in charge of Liverpool since 2015 - announced in January that he will be leaving the Premier League giants at the end of the season, much to the disappointment of the fans. 

 Earlier this week Slot expressed his desire to be appointed as Liverpool manager.
