Tottenham defenders Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal were involved in a heated argument during the match against Liverpool.
Ange Postecoglou's side continued their poor from in the first half at Anfield when Mohamed Salah opened the scoring with a header inside 16 minutes.
Andy Robertson then tapped the ball home from close-range to double Liverpool's lead just before the break.
The afternoon turned sour for Tottenham when Romero and Royal broke into an argument in the middle of the pitch as both sets of players made their way into the tunnel for half-time.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario quickly made a quick sprint from his box to separate the two defenders, who had come face-to-face.

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane claimed the incident was a positive sign for Tottenham but urged both players to defend better.
He said: 'I generally don't mind that kind of behavior, because it means you care about the game.
'But they should have that type of aggression in their defending and in their players. Spurs have been very, very poor.
'I don't mind that, but you got to bring that aggression to your general play, which we've not seen from Spurs.'
Salah's opening goal had come after losing Royal in the back post before heading the ball home.

The Brazilian defender was then pickpocketed by Harvey Elliott who cross the ball into the box for Cody Gakpo to put Liverpool 3-0 up five minutes after the break.
Romero's failure to clear his lines went punished once again as Elliott got on the scoresheet with a stunning strike.
Tottenham went on to pull back two goals through Richarlison and Son Heung-min but it couldn't stop the north London side from suffering a fourth consecutive defeat.
