Liverpool have announced plans for what promises to be an emotional Jurgen Klopp send off, where fans will get the chance to say farewell alongside a number of famous faces.

The Reds boss only has two matches left in his role after announcing in January that he would be ending a near nine-year spell at the end of the campaign.

The Anfield club hoped to give their legendary manager the perfect goodbye by securing a second Premier League title, in addition to more silverware on the continent.

However, things did not transpire as hoped and the Reds have had to make do with a League Cup and Champions League qualification. Nevertheless, a huge celebration of Klopp's time at the club was always going to be necessary.

And on Thursday, Liverpool announced plans to host ‘An Evening with Jürgen Klopp & Special Guests’ at the city’s M&S Bank Arena on Tuesday May 28.

The event has been described as 'Klopp’s final goodbye to supporters' and it will be hosted by lifelong Reds fan John Bishop

'This is going to be a very special night,' Klopp said on the club's website. 'With lots of fantastic memories shared and plenty of great music too.

'I’m really looking forward to spending it with our fans, the heartbeat of this wonderful and unique club.'

The exclusive event will also include a live Q&A with the German boss, hosted by LFCTV presenter Peter McDowall.

Late last week, Klopp said he believed if he had not made the shock decision to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, the club would have struggled next year.

'The football hasn't been great the last few weeks, and as a result you start hearing people say that I look really tired. I'm just old,' said Klopp in an interview with Sky Sports.

'I'm about being in it 100 per cent until the last day. That was always the plan. I was sure that if I didn't make that decision now, next year it could have been tricky. The thought of picking yourself up for another pre-season, make big decisions.

'For that, you really need to be full of energy. 80 per cent is not enough. That's the truth. It's too much. It's a 24/7 job. Yes, there are more important things in life, but if you really care then it's 24/7.

'I did it for a pretty long time and I knew I couldn't continue to do it at the standard necessary for a club like Liverpool.'

With Klopp in the dugout, Liverpool have won their fair share of domestically. They reigned supreme in the Premier League in 2020, have won the FA Cup, and triumphed twice in the Carabao Cup.

They also won the Champions League in 2019 and in the same year secured the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

Klopp has become a messianic figure to the Liverpool faithful for what he has achieved during his time at the club.

His final two games as Liverpool boss see the side face Aston Villa at Villa park on Monday before a home fixture against Wolves.
