The family of a 14-year-old who died in a violent sword attack in London have paid tribute to their 'most loved and amazing son' in a statement issued shortly after football fans paid tribute to the Arsenal-supporting boy at the Emirates Stadium.

Daniel Anjorin was killed in an attack near Hainault Underground station on Tuesday; a man with dual Spanish-Brazilian nationality has been charged with his murder.

Arsenal and Bournemouth fans paid tribute to the teenager with a round of applause during the 14th minute of their Premier League clash today - and shortly after the match, which ended 3-0 for the London side, his family issued a tribute.

The statement, released by the Metropolitan Police, remembered Daniel as a 'loving and precious brother' and 'the most loved and amazing son' - and expressed best wishes to those who were injured in the attack.

Anjorin was killed as he walked to school at around 7am - suffering a fatal head wound after allegedly being struck with a samurai sword-type weapon. He died of his injuries in hospital.

'We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Daniel,' the family statement read.

'It is difficult for us at this time to process what has happened to him and that he will never come home. Daniel had left the house for school and then he was gone.

'Our children have lost their loving and precious brother and we have lost the most loved and amazing son.

'We would like to send our best wishes to the other victims of this unthinkable incident.

'We would also like to thank the local community for all of their support during this most difficult time.'

Calls were made shortly after Anjorin's identity was disclosed for the youngster to be remembered at Saturday's Premier League match.

And ahead of the game the Gunners confirmed it would encourage fans to join in the minute's applause for the tragic teenager.

The team's statement read: 'Arsenal-loving Daniel will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Rest easy, Daniel. God bless.' 

Mikel Arteta's side also shared a photo of Anjorin on the main screen in the stadium ahead of the game. 

Mail Sport revealed earlier in the week that the club had been in close contact with the family liaison officer to offer their support.

The private school pupil, whose mother is a science teacher, had been wearing his headphones when he was allegedly murdered by Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo. Four other people were injured during the incident. 

More than 7,000 people have donated almost £125,000 to a fundraiser in support of Anjorin's family and a sea of floral tributes have been left for Daniel close to the scene of the horrific attack.

Dotted among the flowers were football scarves and Arsenal matchday programmes in recognition of the youngster's lifelong support for his team.

Daniel attended Bancroft's School in nearby Woodford Green, the £24,999-a-year school, which yesterday flew its flag at half-mast while flowers were laid by fellow students.

His heartbroken parents are trusting in their deep Christian faith to cope with their profound shock and grief at his killing, family friends revealed.

Bancroft's School said on its website: 'We are devastated by the heartbreaking news of the death of Daniel. This has left us in profound shock and sorrow.

'He joined Bancroft's at seven years old and quickly became a core member of our community. He was a true scholar, demonstrating commendable dedication to his academic pursuits.

'His positive nature and gentle character will leave a lasting impact on us. Losing such a young pupil is something we will always struggle to come to terms with.'

Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday accused of Daniel's murder along with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Tuesday May 7.

Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, who is leading the investigation, said earlier: 'This is an incredibly tragic incident that has resulted in a young boy losing his life and his family devastated.

'This is a complex investigation due to the number of crime scenes, forensic evidence, hours of CCTV footage and witnesses we need to speak to.

'I know that many people will want answers and we are working to provide them as soon as we can. 

'I would also echo previous calls for patience as my officers carry out a painstaking investigation to deliver justice for Daniel, his family, those injured and the wider community.

'We are starting to build a picture of what happened on Tuesday and I want to thank everyone who has come forward to share dashcam, doorbell and mobile phone footage with us.

'Likewise, thank you to witnesses, who were no doubt terrified by what they saw, and who have made vital contributions to our investigation. Anyone who has not yet spoken to police and has any information should contact us as soon as possible.'
