Vincent Kompany is reportedly keen to make his former Manchester City team-mate Oleksandr Zinchenko his first signing as Bayern Munich boss. 

The City legend was unveiled as the new head coach of the Bavarian giants on Thursday, following the confirmation of his shock move from relegated Burnley. 

Kompany is tasked with rejuvenating a side who finished the last campaign in third-place and went the entire season without claiming a trophy for the first time in more than a decade. 

The 38-year-old will hope that his attacking brand of football - which saw the Clarets obliterate their competition in the Championship but ultimately proved too audacious in the top-flight - will be fruitful in the Bundesliga and Champions League. 

According to the Mirror, to help in his endeavor, Kompany is keen to enlist the services of Arsenal defender Zinchenko, who has fallen out of favour at the Emirates.

The Ukrainian moved to north London from the Etihad in 2022 and was an instant success in his debut campaign but he has since fallen down the pecking order and ended last season as the Gunners' third-choice left back.

In fact, the 27-year-old acknowledged his individual struggles in a social media post to supporters at the end of the campaign. 

'Proud of the team and happy to be one of you Gunners,’ he wrote. 'The club’s season is over now and unfortunately we didn’t get what we wanted but I am sure this club is on the right way to achieve everything.

‘Personally I completely understand that it wasn’t my best season so far and I promise first of all to all fans and doubters that I’ll be back much stronger.

‘Thank you so much for your massive support and see you very soon. #COYG.’

Mikel Arteta's side have been linked with various left-backs this summer, including Feyernoord’s Quilindschy Hartman. 

The Gunners will also have the versatile 2023 summer signing Jurrien Timber fit and firing after he missed the entire campaign with a knee ligament injury sustained only 50 minutes into his debut. 

Meanwhile, Bayern will likely be in the market for a left-sided fullback given the uncertainty surrounding Alphonso Davies' future. 

The Canada international - who has only one year left on his deal - has rejected the club's contract talks with Real Madrid reported to be interested in adding him to their roster.
