Fans have hailed Slovakia for their 'genius' fake throw-in which led to a goal in their Euro 2024 clash against Ukraine.

Slovakia opened the scoring through Ivan Schranz in the 17th minute, with the goal coming from a well-worked routine.

Lukas Haraslin had initially shaped up to take the throw-in, but David Hancko eventually ran over to the side of the pitch and was given the ball.

Hancko then quickly threw the ball to Haraslin, who crossed for Schranz to score with a header. 

Although Slovakia ended up losing the game 2-1, their innovative throw-in routine didn't go unnoticed.

Fans were quick to praise Slovakia, with one suggesting that Arsenal will look to mimic the routine.

They wrote: 'Arsenal are 100% trying this at some point next season lol.'

Another user suggested that teams need to look at ways in which they can use throw-ins to their advantage.

They wrote: 'There’s so many variations that are yet to be explored through Throw ins. Teams need to start working on how to make the most out of this special set piece which happens frequently in a game.' 

Another user commented: 'What a routine', while another described it as 'genius' and one referred to it as 'brilliant'. 

Despite Slovakia taking the lead, Ukraine managed to prevail as Mykola Shaparenko and Roman Yaremchuk scored.  

Group E is fascinatingly poised going into the final round of fixtures, with all four teams having three points. Slovakia, who face Romania on Wednesday, are in third place.
